Hey, everyone. I’m new to the forum and CPA exam. I am taking FAR this coming Saturday and am pretty nervous about it. I’m using Gleim and the simulations are ungodly hard to me. I was wondering if everyone that reads this could share what kind of simulations they saw when taking FAR. I know it varies from person to person, but I’m just wanting to get an idea. Thanks!

You cant disclose any actual questions you saw on the test unfortunately. I took FAR recently and it was brutal. There were some strange journal entries that i couldn't solve. Make sure to be very comfortable with every possible journal entry and try solving complex simulation questions. Good luck!

I see. Well are you able to disclose the general topics they were on? That's what I was looking for mostly.

Topics are always going to vary. That's why there's so much material to cover; it can all be tested. Unfortunately the best preparation is trying to know everything as best you can and getting lots of practice in. Don't try to gamble on what's going to be tested, as tempting as it may be sometimes. Stay the course!

If you haven't done so already, I would definitely suggest checking out the AICPA sample test for FAR. Doing those simulations will definitely be beneficial. You may or may not seem some simulations that are similar to the ones in the sample test.

    Good luck!!

So I had to take FAR three times: 1:72 2:63 3:81

So the first time I didn't study sims at all- I am a candidate where sims went from being 30% of the exam to 50% of the exam. I was told not to study sims.

After failing the first time ( I didn't handle it well) I should have moved on to another test instead after sitting for a re-take 7 weeks later. Each person is different.

3rd time I worked most of the sims in Ninja, made flash cards, used wiley as my main source to study and ninja as a supplement. Passed 81! If you work sims I feel like it makes it easier to search through the material and seeing things that you need to pay attention too.

I like Gleim- I used gleim as a Supplement (just the test bank) for REG & AUD- I passed REG with an 82 recently and waiting on my AUD score!

Yes, Ive been following this forum for a long time and most of us reached the consensus that govt/nonprofit are heavily tested on multiple choice questions. Regards to the simulations, its really a toss up. You never know what you will get but in my assumption you should definitely have a firm grasp in bonds, present value concepts, Revenue recognition, consolidation and combination, ADJUSTING Entries, journal entries (very strange journal entries that caught me of guard), IFRS and GAAP depreciation computation. This is just my assumption.
The hardest part is the time management of simulations. They throw at you 7 different documents that you need to quickly analyze and solve is the hard part for me.
