    Hi future CPAs,

I took FAR for the first time this past week and all of my sims except for my research sim of course had multiple pages of supporting docs to go through. I did not expect all of them to be as long and comprehensive as they were so I am not sure if I just happened to have worse sim booklets than others or if anyone else had a similar experience to me. Overall I did my best and answered them to the best of my ability in the time I had, but I am not very confident in my answers and did not get to check any of my work :/

Feel free to share your experience if you’d like!

@QueenCPA I take FAR in the next couple of days: any advice on how to last minute prepare for sims?

I would review SIMS having to do with preparing/adjusting financial statements. I sat for FAR on Labor Day.

@momos94 Take time to review the AICPA Sample Sims.

Also, try to practice every possible sim in your review course in all topics.

Get comfortable with having to look through so many documents.

    Good luck.

    I hope I pass 🙂

My 2017 Q3 FAR was definitely a ‘ticking-time-bomb' episode in Las Vegas. It's totally a different experience from the one I took in Washington State in 2017 FAR Q1. I honestly believe I passed Q1 FAR, but I think the ‘zeroes fiasco' got me into the 50s. Placed zeroes on all blanks for JEs.

By just reading your comments about Q3 FAR, if you've read Becker's textbook upside down, you can easily pass the exam. I have 2000/2008 hardcopies & 2014 PDF copy). Also, Q3 FAR MCQs are mostly 85-95% calculations (my weakness). I am more like a theory person.

Glad for some of you, it seems that you are comfortable in the calculation area and time management. If you did this and managed to sort numbers of DRS source documents, especially on the last Testlet, you likely pass.

As for my FAR Q3, I spent 1hr per MCQs Testlet and placed ‘zeroes' again in all JEs. Also I ran out of time in the last testlet, it's partly answered. I needed that 30-40 minutes to finish the last testlet, which I didn't have.

Do I have a chance to pass Q3 FAR? I doubt it. With the ‘zeroes fiasco' and unfinished last testlet, it's a 50/50 chance.

@Earla ,what you are trying to communicate ? I have seen your other post where you claimed it was not a spam and you are posting the same post all over forum. You are hing up on JE zero or blank. Not sure what you are trying to say ,one time you are saying you probably didn't do well due to too many calc type problems were there and then JE zero or blank confused you.
Are you asking or advising ?

@WannaFree, My apology I got you confused. I am neither ‘asking' and ‘advising', just sharing my CPA exam experiences and getting some ‘hints', ‘tricks', ‘comments' and ‘recommendation' on how I am going to pass my CPA exam. Again, I very sorry if I upset you, not my intention.

The ‘SPAM' word title, was used as a last resort to post comment in this forum. It took me 4th time to upload before this site accepted it, that is after I post ‘Not Spam' on the title.

I hope this ‘clear the air' for all of you.

@Earla ,apology not asked or required as I am not upset.I was not getting the message and saw your post multiple times and also keywords spam.We all come to this forum for learning from each other and sharing tips.Just like you I was equally upset on 31st May when I screwed up my FAR exam after reading FAR for months. That too for time management. Now I am fine and have practiced lot of mCQ so hopefully I would manage my time very well. They segregated the SIMs into 3 testlet and that was very clear message to us that they are also testing our capability of time management.
