FAR Feelings – Talk me off the ledge - Page 2

    Hello all,

    I have read numerous posts about the feelings one has after taking FAR. I took it on Tuesday and feel like I really let myself down. I am now having trouble thinking about anything else besides the “more likely than not” chance I did not pass. I saw how some people felt this same way but ended up getting very high scores. However, I came home that day and looked up at least 5-6 MCQs I got wrong. I basically blew off my class homework do to my final review and now I feel highly unmotivated to catch up. I really just had to vent because my wife does not seem to understand. 🙂

    I am typically a good judge on when, and when I don’t, do well on exams. Obviously, the grading is a little different for this test, but it is also much more difficult. Anyway, I am curious how many MCQs I could potentially miss? My SIMs were brutal too. It was material I have seen but not my strengths. Any advice is appreciated.

    @2014CPAHopeful

    I'm in the same boat. If I fail FAR this window, I lose a section.

    In retrospect, is there anything you would have done differently with your studies?

    I would have taken more time and practiced the SIMS…I definitely think I could have done more prep on them. I am just hoping to squeak by with a 75…..

    I have actually been devoting myself to sims 100% the past few days. They are really helping me point out my weak spots. I plan to do all of the sims I can get my hands on and then keep material fresh with progress tests.

    Any surprises on your exam? Or was everything covered somewhere in your review materials?

    Based on past experience with the other 3 sections, if you have a good grasp on most of the material you will pass. I don't care if I get a 75 or a 99. I just want to pass.

    A few surprises but I am guessing they were pre-test questions — the one area I was super strong in there was not question…..I felt like I was doing ok until I hit the simulations — my AL question took me forever.

    @G@torCPA You probably did well. You just never know with these exams. I took FAR first as well, felt the exam was very easy, almost toooooo easy. I walked out feeling like I failed and I ended up passing. You just don't know until score release date.

    @2014CP – Surprisingly, my AL question took a bit too. I couldn't find it by word-search within a couple of minutes, so I actually skipped it and had to come back to it.

    AUD: 84 - Oct. 2013
    BEC: 83 - Feb. 2014
    REG: 91 - May, 2014
    FAR: 68, 96 - Oct. 2014...DONE

    Just got my score this morning and I've got a 77… I've did ok on MCQs and totally bombed on sims. I was only confident about the research question and that was about it, the other 6 sims were partially logical estimates and complete guesses
