Very disappointed in myself because i’m not even on the board yet – i’m using Becker CPA Exam review material and I went through the entire course but i’m still 21 points away. I refuse to give up – any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

@aaronmo I completely disagree. I did everything in Becker FAR and made a 59. It agrees with some people’s learning styles and others it does not. I had well over 200 hours in Becker and still made a 59. And telling someone they need a career shift over a 54 is ridiculous. Everyone is different.

@Kewl Dewd You need to find what works for you, and sometimes Becker does not work. Try something different. I made another post about Becker FAR. I actually upped my score 15 points by switching to NINJA Plus and NINJA MCQs. Together they cost barely over 100 bucks. Don’t give up. You have learned a lot by studying Becker FAR, and it will show up. Just keep studying and try a different tool. Trust me when I say it could be worse.

    Good luck!!

As stated in my signature line…YMMV. My GENERAL experience with standardized tests is that there is only so much range a person is going to improve.

You're right in that I don't know from first hand experience…I haven't failed one.

@aaronmo – hey genius, come back sometime next year to check up on me, @stilgoin & @kewldavid to see how much we've improved and passed. or better yet, read some other personal stories currently on this forum to see how much others have improved on these standardized tests.

Regardless of what your “general experience” is, telling someone who is asking for advice on how to improve their score to change careers is not helpful, so why not just keep it to yourself?

I was searching for study motivation today. Success is always the best revenge. 😉

It's certainly not revenge…I hope you all do well and pass. This process sucks…it's awful and we're all in the same crucible. I'm sorry folks took it as an insult, and I can see why people reacted negatively, but it was meant as useful feedback. I also freely acknowledge that I'm not an expert on CPA exam prep. Hopefully a plurality of information given can be digested and conclusions reached.

@aaronmo My revenge is not directed at you silly. lol My advice to you- if you have to qualify a statement by starting it with “I don’t mean this to be rude, but … “ then you should definitely keep it to yourself.

Another point- OP made this post in September. I have no idea why we are giving out advice, although it is REALLY good advice. I feel better knowing OP was not crushed when looking for advice today after a fail yesterday.
