I have been studying for FAR since March 3rd and I just started Bonds. My exam is scheduled for May 30th.

Is it even possible for me to get through all the material in FAR before my test date with atleast two weeks to review. I feel like im so behind. I have only been able to study 2-3 hours during the week because of busy season.

I need some advice!!!

I have not taken FAR yet so take my advice with a grain of salt but I am basing this off my experience with REG. It is very normal to feel you are moving slow considering you're in busy season and the amount of massive material in FAR. But I am assuming you will be going back to your normal hours in a couple of weeks? If I were you, I would try to study as much as I can but closer to the exam date, if you don't feel prepared, I would consider rescheduling because you'd much rather give the beast of FAR your 100% and pass it on your first try!

You could make it, I'd imagine, if you keep up a decent pace. I don't know which review course you are on – is bonds in the middle of the course? I remember it being like chapter 12 out of 30 chapters in mine. If your exam is scheduled for May 30th and you do 3 hours every night and pace yourself (write everything day by day on a calendar, that you need to do) so you get thru all the material by like May 23rd, and use the final week to review difficult topics, I think it's possible. Of course, I have no idea what your skill level is (very experienced, no experience, moderate experience) or how high your IQ is. Some people knock out FAR in 4 weeks. Many in 8 weeks, but I think the average is 12 weeks for FAR. I finished the Roger review course in 12 weeks. It would've been 8-9 weeks but I got a job and couldn't do as much, so had to spend another few finishing it up. I ended up pushing my exam out another month after I was already done, which proved to be a bad move on my part because I ended up not studying at all during that month (long story). Some people on here will tell you “3 months is way too long to study for a section” and don't listen to them. I talked to one guy who spent 9 months on FAR before he got a pass. It's probably the toughest of the four because the amount of things you have to know is enormous. If you start to get overwhelmed and think you need another month, you can always reschedule it. I don't know why some people race to finish these exams, except maybe if they are B4 employees and are promised a big bonus check if they have them all done by a certain date.

get to 2000 MCQs and youre ready. Yes, even if you had zero right now, youve got like 50 days to do ~40/day.

@crazyleon I feel like its possible ai am just a little overwhelmed. If I reschedule I will not br able to take it until July. Which is so far out. I also want to keep my momentum I passed BEC in Feb 2017. I am using the Wiley CPAexcel review course. Bonds are in the F/S accounts section. After I complete this section I still have to go through the specific transactions section(Business Combinations, and Consolidations), and then Govt/Non for Profit.

The way I study is I would go through and read & write atleast 4 lessons before I study them. Then I go back and actually review them. Writing notes is what takes the longest. How did you go about atudying for each section?

I am assuming that you are using every tool that CPA excel offers (videos, text, slides, t/f questions?, pop quizzes, sims, coloring books, etc). If you want to pick up the pace you may have to cut a few things out. The traditional approach proposed by these review companies seem to be working less and less now-a-days…

@mtaylo24 I do not watch videos or do the true false questions. I usually read the physical book and take notes instead of reading it on the computer, then I do supplental questions, flashcards, and exam questions in that order.
