jhd7MemberThis 74 on FAR completes my apparent quest to fail each section of the exam with a 70 or greater at least once lol I guess I’m the exact person Jeff had in mind when he made the site. This one stings a little more as I would’ve been done with my CPA journey if I could’ve squeezed out another point. Anyway for those who have passed a FAR retake, do you recommend I go through the entire course again or just review and take it again asap while it’s fresh?

GatorbatesParticipantI had back to back 74's on FAR, both would have licensed me and one caused me to lose REG. Third time was a charm, and I got and 80, re-passed REG, and now I'm done.
In terms of studying, on my first retake, I started from scratch and did the same routine as I did the first time. You may think it didn't help, since I got another 74, but my second 74 was due to time … I ran out of time on the SIMS and didn't complete two of them. I did “greater” on all areas of multiple choice, and weaker on SIMS.
Third time, I jumped around on my weaker areas, but still did homework problems on each chapter. You can only study the same thing a certain amount of times before your brain starts to melt. Best of luck.

jhd7Member@zieba I use CPA excel. If you aren't familiar with it it has smaller lessons. So for example there'll be like a 10 min lesson then 15 mcq's on that topic. So I may just run thru the mcq's, if I get a bad score that means I don't know the topic well, then I'll watch the video. If I do well I can just move on without watching. Thanks for all the input btw

ziebaParticipantFunny, I felt that I blew it with my 69 exam…. because NONE of my SIMS has J/E's and I left one sim blank on something that is so second nature as figuring the difference between book and fair value… this exam, every SIM was J/E. They were manageable JE's, but nonetheless.
Conclusion? They have a way of compensating, knowing, chicken bone voodoo or whatever.
My WTB tests were in your neighborhood. I used the AL to calmly read, understand, and fill in one complete SIM.

mla1169ParticipantAbsolutely study from scratch. You'll never see anyone here complaining that they studied “too much”.
Besides you don't need 1 Point. You need 75.
FAR- 77

MintsRGoodParticipantA 74 is the worst. Ugh. Gator and I were in the same boat for FAR retake #2 with the dreaded 74 but we both turned it around and closed out on retake 3! You have to redo everything from your last attempt and more. I treated the information like I had never encountered it. I also recopied my Ninja notes 4 times instead of twice (10-15 pages everyday until test day). It really helped!!!! Practice journal entries until your hand falls off!
Mla speaks the truth, don't get sucked into “1 more point”! Study like you need an 85 to pass!
You can do this!!!!!

KRinaMemberthanks for all the good advice. This is my 2nd retake and I failed in 70s. I also think I blew a good exam.
I have done becker so much that it does not help. for the mQC, all I do is click on answers because I had memorize them.
My approach now for retake 3rd time ( Middle April) is wiley test bank and ninja notes which I want to supplement with Becker. Becker now, I am going to read chapters and no lectures.
Do you guys think buying the becker final review will be helpful? this is my last section and I just want to be done with this. My kids ( 2 boys) are already complaining I don't spend enough time with them between work and studying. DH does not really understand.
Any advice on how to approach this the 3rd time is greatly appreciated
