I have heard that doing an insane amount of MCQs is the key to passing FAR.

How many MCQs should I do per day (or in total) if I have 4 weeks left until the retake of the exam? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    AUD - 84
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 77
    REG - 75

Memmy, I tried to do around 100-130 MCQ's per day, but I read both right and wrong answers to try and understand. I felt well prepared for MCQ by exam time. It's not just about how many can be done – quality counts!

Do as many as you can do in a day, but make sure you understand why a question is wrong or right before moving on. Your number may be 100, or it may be 200. It looks like you've taken FAR a few times before so you should have a good idea of your weak areas. You may want to hit those the hardest.

Understanding the methodology behind the multiple choice questions is important in passing FAR… quality over quantity. I did not go through several thousand questions like some people, but did make sure that I understood why an answer was correct or incorrect. Additionally, I made sure that I did more multiple choice in the modules with which I had less familiarity (for example, derivatives and pensions).

I probably did 1,200-2,000. After a while you get burnt out. I passed FAR by 1 point. Does it help? Yes. But also doing things like reviewing the textbook, making flash cards, etc. helps too. If you can do thousands of MCQs without going insane, more power to you. It will help.

But I'd also look over some sims too. That's what helped me pass FAR. Was stronger on the sims and weaker on the mcqs I think.

I only did about 1500 MCQ for FAR and passed. Could I have done more? Yes, and I would have scored better I'm sure. But it was the best I could do that the time with my situation. My best advice is just make sure you aren't seeing the same questions over and over, if you are memorizing the 2000 you go through, that won't help on exam day. Good luck!

I would guess that I did 2000-2500 total. THe vast majority of those were in the 2 weeks leading up to the exam. I would do varying sets of 60 MCQ/4 Sims 3x/day. I thought it was helpful.

    I agree with @InterFC1

I made sure I understood the principles to use for each question and also note the CALL of the question. For my resit, I would do questions (amount per topic differ depending on weakness), review lectures for weak areas and I read the entire book before my resit. Same experience with AUD – didnt read the book the first time and failed, read for resit and passed. What works for me may not work for u but its senseless to do a ton of questions and not understand why it is wrong/right or what principle to apply.

I really don't think that the number of MCQ's matters. You can do MCQ's over and over and over and end up memorizing the answers and not learning anything, which is what I'm betting people who have done 3000-4000 did, unless they used a few different testbanks. What matters is that you're understanding the material. For some people that may be 2500 MCQ's and for other it may be 700. Don't try to hit a specific number by the time you take the test because it may be over or understudying depending on your learning style.

Wiley Test Bank has under 2,000 questions for FAR so there is definitely some repetition in there if you are doing 4k questions. Like others have said just take your time and learn the concepts.
