    Wiley Question –

Yaeger has a special which includes the full review course, all 4 cram courses, flashcards, USBs, and an iPad mini for $1,997

Is this a good deal? I plan to start sitting for the CPA exams in July/August and am considering either Yaeger or CPAexcel. Anyone have any success with Yaeger or CPAexcel? Which course would you recommend?

I am personally a huge fan of Yaeger. They are a great fit for me. Their lectures are the main thing that stands out with them. I learned well in college from interactive teachers rather than reading on my own so that narrowed my choices down to Roger or Yaeger and i didn't like how super high energy Roger was and I really don't care for acronyms and quick memory tactics, which from what I gathered he does a lot of.

Yaeger also sprinkles mcq throughout the video and I usually skip past them because I want to try them fresh for myself first but a few times I needed to find that part of the video to help me with the problem and that was really beneficial.

I have the ‘at your own pace' package so I was sent 2013 materials for FAR in the fall and then 2014 materials for AUD back in December since I was taking it in February. I love that the videos are compatable on my Ipad, however the extra little perks of the mobile textbook, notetaking, bookmarking etc are not currently available with the mobile log-in. I don't miss it too much.

And I love having wiley mcq, nothing beats them πŸ™‚

    About the instructors:

Cindy- She talks fast, makes you glad it's a video that you can pause. She also has a LOT of energy and doesn't bore you.

Gary- He talks sllooooww. It wasn't terrible though since it gave me time to take notes along with it and not have to pause often. He normally leaves all the mcq till the end of each video segment which made it easier for me to skip.

Phil- He reads from the textbook more than the others and tries to crack jokes which usually aren't terribly funny but gives me at least a few seconds of mental break which is more helpful than you realize. He is very big on telling you exactly how to study, which I personally find helpful.

My favorite thing however about Yaeger is the extra support from the instructors. I love the tips that they give in the videos telling me which areas to maybe just briefly read through and which things to make sure I memorize.

Whatever you choose, just keep in mind how you learn best and how you will be studying (in a loud lunch room at work, on the road with audio etc). Also keep in mind that no matter what review package you purchase, you will not pass unless you simply know the material. There's no shortcut around it πŸ™‚

I have been unmotivated lately despite my unemployment, and decided to pay for Roger's REG to mix things up. I have in the past found lectures to be less effective per study hour than reading and knocking out multiple choice questions. As of now I still feel that way, but I got to say I am enjoying Roger's videos.

I supplemented with Yaeger for FAR and found Cindy's lectures pretty good, but I have to say Roger's lectures are WAY better in my opinion. Yaeger also has those other two dudes who aren't as engaging as Cindy. I think Roger's lecture program is way more entertaining and as a result way more effective.

Plus Roger now comes with a test bank different than Wiley, so it keeps Wiley available for supplement questions. So my new recommendation is Cpaexcel for people who want to learn by reading and Roger for people who want to learn by watching vidoe's. My overall recommendation would be Cpaexcel for your strongest two parts and Roger for your two weakest parts. Mixing up review courses is extremely helpful in combating the boredom that comes with studying so much material. Plus if you spend over $750 on Cpaexcel products you will qualify for $200 discount per section on Roger.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I passed both Audit and Reg with Yaeger but failed both FAR and BEC with it. I had thought the traditional style of teaching that Yaeger offers was what I needed but I am finding as the process drags on, I need different materials to stay focused. I think the WTB is worth the money no matter which curriculum you go with. The people at CPA excel are very helpful and generous when it comes to their materials.
