Hi all,

Just wanted to see if I need to buy the Wiley Test Bank for FAR if I already bought the 2012 Wiley Text Book, which has over 1300 MC questions as well. I passed AUD & BEC with just the Wiley books on their own and came ever so close with REG (just bought NINJA notes for REG and thinking about buying for FAR as well to supplement with Wiley text questions). Any advice would be great. Thanks and good luck to all!

I purchased the Wiley book, test bank and Ninja Notes for FAR. I found the test bank most useful for identifying my week areas, however I only went through about 500-600 of the 1000+ questions available on the test bank. Additionally, I also like the test bank because there is no flipping pages for answers, you can have an answer immediately.

Would you say the questions in the book vs. the test bank are the same or is there a vast difference? I would assume the book also would have past AICPA questions. I actually enjoy book studying better rather than stare at the computer screen while doing questions (even though it gives you an actual exam experience). Also, you didn't go crazy and do ALL Wiley questions… i too might just do every other question and focus on the theory behind each. The Wiley book alone has 1,300 MC and 146 SIMS… insane! I just don't want to buy the test bank and discover that the questions are the same or similar when compared with the 2012 FAR book. When I took AUD in JAN 2012, every other MC on the exam came from Wiley book and the SIMS were very similar to the book as well. However, some people said that actual FAR exam questions are worded very differently than Wiley which also scares me a little. I mean, how much different can they be…?

I've asked Wiley about this before…if I recall, it's around 90% different questions give or take.

Just went ahead and bought the 2012 FAR Wiley Test bank. Also bought the NINJA notes. My question is, can I access the Wiley Test Bank for 1 year from any internet connected computer? Thx!

NOPE. I just asked Wiley about it because I have 2012 book and just bought test bank.

Wiley said they are all same.

Jeff is correct. 90% of book and test bank questions are different. Here's the math:

1454 FAR Test Bank MCQ (+ 66 additional Sims)

1300 FAR Book MCQ (+ 146 additional Sims)

---

2754 x .9 = 2478

So unique 2478 FAR MCQ if you have book + test bank.

@zeek if you called the Customer Support they may have provided incorrect information. While we do try to train support staff on product details, they cover hundreds if not thousands of Wiley products and often can't speak to product details as well as the product and brand teams can. We are considering changes to have some dedicated CPA product experts within the Support operation to help provide better service. The FAQ on WileyCPA.com as well as the Support site https://www.wiley.com/go/cpasupport are managed by the product team so I will have a breakdown of unique book/test bank questions added to address this questions — it's a good one.

We currently only have questions IDs for Test Bank and don't track questions in the books with IDs so we use the 10% metric as an approximation. It is roughly accurate. The Online Test Bank grew out of the CD version which was around for 17 years and questions were developed independently for the CD and Book. I'll do some sleuthing to try and get even more granular by breaking down the number of book and Test Bank MCQ for each section by module/topic.
