Wiley Frustration

    I am getting back to studying today for my next match with BEC. I figured I’d hop back over to Wiley for the book reading portion, since I like that it will create a schedule to keep me on track. However, I keep getting this error message popping up over and over. It’s so frustrating! And distracting when I’m trying to take notes and learn.

    I’m not sure if I should look into another software provider for this one or just suck it up and hope it goes away.

    I am experiencing the same thing too right now.

    Periodically this happens with the Wiley system.

    It just takes time until eventually it will stop, sometimes up to an hour.

    I have heard that clearing your cache and browsing history may help, but it is not guaranteed.

    Wiley's software is the worst I've ever experienced. Granted, I've used them and Ninja and been 2/2 so far, but the amount of frustration the Wiley software causes is unbelievable

    I haven't used Wiley in so long. I completely ditched it this year in favor of Ninja since I hadn't had luck with it in the past. I am hoping combining it with Ninja will give me the edge I need to pass this one section, since I got the same score when using them separately. But if it continues this way, I'm going to ditch Wiley again quickly and figure out a plan b.

    I ran into those errors when I used Wiley for FAR. I usually use Firefox, I was advised to try Google Chrome and it's always worked in that browser even when it wouldn't properly load on Firefox

    I'm using Chrome… :-/

    I've just never had it repeatedly pop up like that. I could barely get through one lesson before I gave up. Hopefully tonight when I get to study more it will be resolved.

    Its been happening to me as well. I talked to the customer service person and she told me that they were experiencing problems with their website and that were aware of the issue and working to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible. It is working for me as of right now.

    Has anyone been able to get any answers from Wiley about how long their website is going to be down? I tried calling and couldn't get anyone and then I tried the chat and they wouldn't even let me ask a question they just said we are experiencing problems and to try again later.

    @jmiller13 they resolved the original problem when I was having problems, but now it seems to be out of order again. I've been having problems again today. It's so frustrating. I really don't want to spend the money to buy another software, but I really need to study.

    @Jennifer I know what you mean. This BEC retake could be my last section and I hate to buy another software also. I have had this software since it was cpaexcel before Wiley purchased it. It has just gone downhill since Wiley took it over. Good luck on your BEC retake!

    @jmiller13 it seems to fixed for the time being. I've been able to make it through 2 lessons without having the error message pop up again.

    Good luck on your retake as well! Hopefully we will both knock it out and complete our journeys. When are you scheduled to retake it?

    @jennifer I'm scheduled to take it Jan 22nd. I lose AUD Jan 25th, so I am really going to buckle down and get it done! When are you scheduled?

    I'm scheduled on the 17th. I wanted to take it before the end of the first score release, and before the end of January when tax season really gets going. I just took it on 12/7, so I figured I could continue for another month and hopefully clear up some trouble concepts. Thankfully, after a long struggle, I just passed the other 3 in the last 2 windows, so I have until next January before I start worrying about credits falling off. Hopefully though one more shot will be all I need!

    I used Wiley for about 2.5 months for FAR. In that time they updated the course layout, which led to about half a week of inoperable/slow software. Then it was good for a few weeks and again recently it’s been horrible. I’d call customer service almost every weekend when it was giving issues. Finally they refunded me. I switched to Becker and am so damn happy I did so. Good luck all! I definitely feel your pain!

    I made so many mistakes when I bought this software. I purchased it before I was really ready to start studying, so I hadn't tested any of them out yet. I read some reviews, and liked that it never expired, so I went with it about 7 months before I planned to start because the student discount was expiring. In the last few years, I've used it but haven't had much luck with it in general. By the time I realized it didn't work very well for me, it was much too late to try and get a refund. I basically ditched it entirely last year and went to Ninja, which worked very well for every section, except BEC. I need a little more in-depth learning for the concepts which I just wasn't getting from the test bank. I like that Wiley gives me a plan and tells me the sections I have to go through each day. I didn't have the problems when I used it in the past, but just this week when I've been using it again it's been terrible.

    TL,DR: Moral of the story is if I could go back 4 years I would wait and purchase something else. But you live and you learn, and thankfully I'm almost done finally. Just need one more 75.
