Hi Everyone,

I am currently using the Wiley CPA 2011 Test Bank, that I got from Yaeger for BEC. I’ve used it about a dozen times already with no problem. So today I was gearing up for another round of 30 MC questions. I clicked the parameters I wanted for the study option and when I hit the button to start the exam I got the following message:

“Server Error in ‘/’ Application.

Failed to update database “C:PROGRAM FILES (X86)WILEY CPA EXAM REVIEWDESKTOP 2011WWWAPP_DATAWILEYCPA2011.MDF” because the database is read-only.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Failed to update database “C:PROGRAM FILES (X86)WILEY CPA EXAM REVIEWDESKTOP 2011WWWAPP_DATAWILEYCPA2011.MDF” because the database is read-only.”

I tried using different internet browsers but it did not help.

Not sure if their system is down or if its my own user error. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks so much for the help.

try running it as an adminsistrator.

I found this solution on Amazon, and it worked for my problem. These are the steps:

1. Click Start -> Computer

2. Navigate to C:Program Files (x86) [Double-click the C: drive, followed by the Program Files (x86) folder.]

3. From there, navigate to WileyCPA Exam ReviewDesktop 2011WWW

4. Right-click on the APP_Data folder and select Properties.

5. On the Security tab, click the Edit button.

6. Select the Users group to highlight it, then check the box below granting Full Control.

7. Click OK to accept and save the change.

8. Finally, reboot the machine and try running the application again

Thanks herbieherb, although your option did not work, I greatly appreciate your help. Good luck on FAR, its certainly a beast. My advice when taking FAR is to really know the concept and read the questions carefully, I found this helped tremendously. Its certainly a lot of material but you can do it! =)
