So, I am confused on all the discussions of Wiley this and Wiley that. Are some of you using only Wiley study books and/or Test Books/Banks to prepare for the exams? Or are the Wiley materials meant to only be a supplement to Becker, Roger, Yaeger, etc.? Thanks in advance.
I have also believe that the Wiley Test Bank is an invaluable study resource. The questions are very diverse and gives a lot of practice. I credit the Wiley Test Bank as helping me finally pass Regulation with an 86 after two back to back 74's using just a CPA review course. I am studying Auditng now and I really like the Wiley Test Bank's questions as a supplement. I also have the Wiley book as a resource, too.
So if I am understanding Jeff correctly, buying the test bank essentially gets you the book, just a digital version. And the TB + Ninja notes are better than studying from the Wiley books and Ninja note, correct?
I passed both REG and AUD on the first try using only the Test Bank and the Wiley Book, along with NINJA Audio. I'm about to tackle BEC using the same method. In my opinion, it is the way to go. Not only is it way more inexpensive, but it keeps you on your toes a lot more than watching some videos does.
Are there any discounts right now for Wiley Online Test Bank? I already bought BEC, so I don't need the package deal…I need REG, or some kind of three pack combo (REG/AUD/FAR). Are there ever promotions to get individual online test banks for less than $85??
If anything, Wileybooks go into TOO much detail (i.e. “Here are 80 different disclosures for pensions; make sure to read and remember all of these”). As a general rule, the questions in the Wiley book are significantly more difficult (as a whole) than what you'll find on the actual exam. Hence, if you want to really prepare well and not leave any doubt for passing the exam, use Wiley.
I've used the current year books as a supplement for older Yaeger CPA review lectures and found it to be a great tool. I also used the online Wiley Test Bank for my last two exams (REG and AUD) and found the questions to be more comparable to the actual CPA exam questions (slightly more difficult, but a better fit than the book questions). On both REG and AUD, I came across a couple of questions on each section that were identical to questions in the WTB.
Again, I give high marks to the Wiley book, but understand that you don't need to know every little detail that Wiley gives in order pass and do well on the actual exam.
