Anyone know how hard Wiley questions are (from the book) compared to the actual CPA? I’ve been practicing (BEC) and typically get around 65-80% on questions in the modules, typically around the 70-75% rate. Should I be worried? I know its hard to find out how the cpa is scored but for some odd reason I believe it is curved so getting 70% correct is probably a good thing? Honestly I don’t care about getting a high grade on the CPA exam as the difference between a 75 and a 95 mean nothing.

    REG- ?? (8/13)

    FAR-TBA

I usually scored 10 points higher on the real test vs. Wiley. For me, I made lazy mistakes on the practice that I just didn't make on the real test and also some real test questions will be familiar to you since you will have already practiced the concept.

    BEC : 07/28/2012 (89)
    FAR : 10/29/2012 (86)
    AUD : February 2013 (80)
    REG : 05/22/2013 (80)

the book has more questions than the test bank.. it covers questions based on each topic, and is pretty awesome.. if u add up the online test bank, u get to do questions representative of AICPA.. has a few more complex questions which cement the concept.. 🙂

The questions in the book are definitely released questions from the AICPA as well. I don't have the online test bank, but I do have the book, along with the Bisk book and I know that probably 70% of the questions in the book are released questions, and the rest are written by the editors.

It is my opinion that when taken as a whole, the Wiley book questions are SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult than actual CPA exam questions. That's not to say that there aren't questions in the Wiley book that are easy and questions on the exam that are really difficult, but this is a general observation. The online Wiley Test Bank is much more aligned with the actual CPA questions; they might be slightly more difficult when taken as a whole, but better represent the typical question format/structure/length.

This isn't to say that the Wiley book questions are not a good preparation source; on the contrary, if you're doing well with those, you should have no problem with the actual exam.

I 100% percent agree with InterFC1!!!!!! I've used Wiley as my primary review textbook along with the Test Bank, and after 3 parts there is no doubt in my mind that the book questions are considerably more difficult then the Test Bank. I like to read and outline the modules and do the assigned questions when prompted in the text book and move through the book cover to cover. It's tough to grind through all the book questions and sims by hand, but it really pounds the information into my head! I like to “save” the Test Bank for the last 2 weeks of review to take advantage of the speed and stats it offers. I hit every question in the test bank once and use the progress reports to tighten up weak areas. I think the combo of the book up front and the test bank in the final review phase had helped me tremendously!

    Good luck!!!!!!! 🙂
