its 600 pages of single spaced definitions and concepts. There is no way to retain this much information.

I have Becker as well, should I use that instead? The 2011 version of Becker has 7 modules for REG correct?

I used Wiley for bec but it seems there is way too much information in here that I won’t need for the exam.

This is why a course like Yaeger or Roger is beneficial – they tell you what you need to know in the Wiley book.

There some definitions the Wiley book will tell you that becker doesnt, for example interim/subsequent period becker assumes you know what that means i didnt know what that meant till Yeager. But you saying this fr reg makes me nerevous because I will start on the first.

FAR: 7/17/10 missed exam FML reschedule 8/29/10-77 EPIC!
    REG: 5/31/11-73 SMH, 8/31/11-85
    BEC: 4/15/10-72 : retake 10/3/10-80
    AUD: 11/28/10-74, 02/27/11-71 FML, 8/1/11-80
    Ethics 10/22/22-80, retake 11/28/11 - 88

I would purchase Roger or Yaeger but I can't afford it.

The best I could do is borrow my friend's 2010 Roger book. Would that be good enough Jeff? The book will not seperate what sections I should focus on in the Wiley book right?

I always thought FAR was the most intimidating book as its the thickest of the 4.

yeah FAR is ridiculous…its over 1000 pages long O_O

@CPAman what materials did you use to pass FAR and AUD with such great scores? (and what were your hours spent studying for each exam?)

Funny thing is I found studying for FAR easier than REG due to the plethora of examples in the FAR book. I have totally given up on just using just Wiley for REG. I write the exam (2nd try) in 2 days that I highly doubt I'm going to pass unless I get really really lucky. Biz law is simple enough but with tax, it could sure use more examples to explain things. Pages of tax code w/o examples makes my eyeballs roll into the back of my head. I have a CCH 2010 textbook and study manual on the way to help with that deficiency. Overkill? Probably but I need to pass this year before I start losing credit for the other sections.

@cpamaybe, can I ask you a personal question? How did you go from a 59 to a 95 in Audit??? Go a 59 on REG, would love to see that kind of bounce back…

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I felt the same way when I was studying for REG. I only used Wiley book and Gleim test bank. I felt pretty good after I took REG a few weeks ago. It was tough, but I felt prepared, nothing in the MCQ threw me for a loop. The SIMS are a totally different story tho!

For me, the Ninja notes really helped me highlight the most important concepts, and the Gleim test bank questions were a bit easier than Wiley, so that helped me get my feet wet. I used Wiley for my final two week review, and I felt alot less intimidated, and actually felt pretty good after I had worked through the questions and understood them better. Reading the book didnt help at all, but working lots of MCQ and getting the same concepts wrong over and over eventually made me remember how to do them correctly.
