    Wiley Question –

I’m stuck between the “Video Self Study” package or the “Online Video Self-Study.” The only difference is the Video Self Study comes with Textbooks/Ebooks. Is the extra money worth it? Does anyone use the ebooks, or will I be ok with using only the core study materials with video lectures/slides? Any advice here would be helpful, thanks.

Oh, I plan on purchasing the NINJA 10 point combo as well. Thanks!

I use CPAExcel. I have been studying FAR, and the two books are a combined 1271 pages! The videos and study text mirror what's in the books. I may not use the books going forward for AUD, REG, and BEC. Great review course, and they do honor the code Jeff sent 🙂

Let me know how you like the Ninja 10 point combo…

    Good luck!

I actually prefer the books. Some of CPA Excel's professors bug the crap out of me. A couple of them are always stuttering over themselves and at annoys me when I am trying to concentrate. Also, with BEC, some of the guys literally read word for word from the book.

The entire text is available online. I had the books for my first 2 parts (BEC and AUD) and used them for maybe 10 minutes. I just read the study text online after I watch the videos. For REG and FAR I just got the online video self study because I never used the books when I had them.

Self-study (the cheapest one).lol…It depends on the person, but video lectures are a waste of time imo. I got the books because my eyes get tired reading the screen though. Passed all sections on 1st try and flew through MCQs on every single exam.. =]

    CPA for life...

The video lectures can get extremely annoying. The books are not bad and my FAR book was one huge book instead of two so I figured if there ever was an intruder in my house I could use the book to defend myself. 🙂

    Good Luck!

I will agree that some of the lecturers in FAR (minus Pam Smith) are pretty annoying…some stutter, others are plain boring, and one was so monotonous that I couldn't tell which sentence had emphasis. I am just a visual person, so the video lectures help me learn better.

Just save yourself time and do one or the other (videos or books)…

The video lectures are good for people with ADHD and they do cover the topics pretty well…

Like it was mentioned above all the text are available online. You can also print out the text if you wish. It actually kind of nice carrying a small leaflet of material instead of an entire book.
