So…I thought that Wiley's MCQ were harder than the CPA exam.
Regarding studying: some people skip reading the text or watching the videos and only do MCQ for a lesson. They go back and read the text or watch a video if they are stuck for this lesson and the MCQs leave them lost without any context.
Personally I read the textbook and skip the videos. The videos are good, but they leave out lots of the detail that you only get from the textbook.
Reading the textbook and the video would be good in an ideal world, but for me it takes too long. Doing both will extend the time it takes you to sit for each CPA exam. The longer you extend your study time, the more likely you will forget material, especially from the earlier lessons.
I read the textbook then do the lesson assessment MCQs for each lesson. That's it. When I have tried to do the MCQ without reading the textbook or even watching a video, I feel lost. Other people I know that have passed doing only the lesson MCQs are more comfortable with the lack of certainty and are able to get by only reading or watching a video when they are stumped. They get through the material quicker, but they may not absorb the material as well as if they had read the text or watched a video. Their CPA exam scores might be lower, but as long as they pass, who really cares. If you are shooting for a high score, read or watch a video then do the MCQ. If you want, try these study variations and find what works best for your situation. Everyone is different.
I would recommend checking out Jeff's post about how many MCQs to study for your final exam. This is really important to passing.
