Sorry CPAExcel….I’m switching to Wiley

I like CPAExcel, I really do. I will use them for their online test bank and questions.

But I just can’t study with their textbook. It’s too much information, too wordy. It is like taking a college course with all the wordiness. I guess it will be a good reference in case I need a better explanation on something but like for Auditing, I am going to study (switching oars in mid-stream) Wiley. I just like having the printed questions and answers.

I want my review course to be a focused course. If I am reading a lot of unnecessary verbiage, I am wasting my time.

Here’s something I found odd….CPAExcel didn’t even mention Dodd/Frank—gee what are the odds that a question from Dodd/Frank will show up on BEC?

    I’m out. Time to study.

p.s. I reserve the right to change my mind if Aud comes back on Monday in bad shape. I used Wiley primarily for that.

To be fair, Dodd=Frank is REG.

True but I did pick up a couple questions (high level) on Wiley regarding corporate governance….voting on executive compensation and golden parachutes.

I'm already feeling better….I was just bogged down and seemingly getting nowhere with all the wordiness of the CPAExcel.

I'm using CPAExcel. But I agree with you on their book. I actually also fine the Wiley book to be too much. So I purchased Hock (they don't have AUD yet but that is coming). I used Hock for the CMA and I really like how they lay things out. Very readable.

    AUD - 77 08/22/2012 (expires 01/31/2014)
    BEC - 86 09/17/2011 (expires 02/28/2013)
    FAR - 74 12/15/2012
    REG

So CPAExcel has too much info? I'm into my 4th time reading the chapters..lol…

How many pages do the other review programs have, specifically BECKER (FAR)?

Both Wiley and CPAExcel are full of information, which isn't a problem. I just got my grade back on the Aud and it was an 87….so I am changing NOTHING.

I'm going to switch to Wiley and do their questions multiple times, write and retype the notes, and then hit the CPAExcel questions. I'm in overdrive with newfound vigor and excitement.

CPAExcel has information I need that is not in Wiley, the two seem good compliments. The Wiley has a ton of info in it but the facts are written more like cliffnote facts and less like a college professor trying to fill pages. If that makes sense!
