Hi All,

A few days back I bought Wiley CPAExcel Platinum. I’ve been working through the “study plan” it sets up for you. I’ve been watching the video lecture as well as reading the study text. However, I’m seeing questions in the section’s practice problems that were not touched on in the lecture or the study text. Am I missing something? The books are currently being shipped to me, maybe those touch upon the items that the online study text missed? If this is the case, is it pretty pointless to read the online study text and maybe I should just hit the book instead?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I used CPAexcel when studying for the exams. I experienced the same things as you have. It bothered me at first, but I got over it quickly. I made sure to read the reasoning behind the answer to those questions that didn't directly have content to back them up.

The online study text is the exact same as the textbooks, except it will include any updates after your books have been shipped.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep on keeping on. Good luck on your studies!

I wouldn't view the videos unless I was having trouble understanding certain topics. I would read the material, take the practice tests and then move on. Most of my learning was done during the review stage. I would do mcq's like crazy. If I got the question wrong, I would write done the correct answer and the reason why.

Sometimes they throw in questions from the next chapter, especially in supplemental questions. I wouldn't worry about it. And I watch videos selectively, based on how heavily it's tested. But definitely watch it for equity method and cash flows as they give you some short-cuts there.
