I was going to use the Wiley CPA books going forward, I already have the test bank through the 10 pt combo. I wanted to get just the books that I can use to study, but I am not exactly too sure which set of books to get? Does anyone use Wiley and can advise me as to which set to get?

    thanks

OK, posted the wrong link at first, so if you saw my hastily-edited post to remove it, this is the right link. 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/Wiley-CPA-Examination-Review-2013-2014/dp/111858385X/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1388538254&sr=8-12&keywords=wiley+2014+cpa+review Somehow last time the link I'd posted was CPAExcel and Wiley combined or something? Idk. I got the 2013 individual books for each subject but I don't see that for 2014, looks like it's cheaper as the combo book anyway so might as well get the combo. The flashcards, “focus notes”, etc., might be good too, but this is where the “meat” of it is and all the info. The others are just condensed versions that aren't standalone and I didn't feel like were worth spending money on!

Hmm did some research and it looks like Wiley has added the CPAexcel name to their books for 2014, so if you want individual books for each subject, here's the 4-set: https://www.amazon.com/Wiley-excel-Review-Study-Guide/dp/1118734068/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1388538185&sr=8-10&keywords=wiley+2014+cpa+review or you can buy the books individually. Personally I'd probably prefer the individual books…but to each his own.

Awesome, that's the one I was looking at but didn't want to buy it, then find out its mostly mcq or something when I already had the WTB, as for focus notes an flashcards, I have the Ninja so I am going to assume those should work.

    Thanks!

@Lilla, the set or combo you are referring to consists of 4 INDIVIDUAL books. It is not one huge book which includes all 4 parts. So, actually buying the set is a little bit cheaper I think. At least it was last year when I bought the set.

    FAR - Apr 2013 - PASSED
    REG - Oct 2013 - PASSED
    AUD - Apr 2014 - PASSED
    BEC - May 2014 - PASSED

I bought the 2014 set Lilla referenced (four books) along with WTB and Ninja Notes & Audio. Wiley is dry but detailed so very good for those that are motivated self learners.

I was using Becker at first, but I actually learn more from reading it myself rather than watching videos, I tend to get distracted by other things when someone else is going through the videos.

@OneStep@atime The first link I posted said it was a 2-volume set…and my thought was that my arms would ache from holding (basically) 2 books at once! lol! But the 2nd link I know is 4 individual books. Much my preference. 🙂

@jyoung I'm the same way – I zone out while watching videos, regardless of whether they're educational or for entertainment. Like if my boyfriend and I watch something just for fun and have to pause in the middle, he might ask me what happened last and I have no clue. Once I start watching, I remember enough to know what's happening, but I don't remember details!

Sorry for the disappearing act folks – it was a busy month-end close (since it's also year-end close), so I was off doing accounting instead of here talking about it!
