HustlinHustlinMemberHi All! I’ve decided to change up my strategy after struggling with FAR and REG by getting the Wiley Books.
The first thing I notice is they are HUGE and look more like an encyclopedia than a text.
Can anyone provide any insight on how best to use this book?
B 71 - 79 EXPIRED
A 69 - 75 EXPIRED
R 65 - 48 - 45
F 56 - 61 - 65 - 64Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Wiley Text and Ninja Notes

Experience - Done, like WAAAY done.
Still need 30 more credits, in basket weaving (gotta love new CA requirements)

littlenumberrobotMemberHey Hustlin, I would read the chapter and take notes after watching the video for a particular section. Often on parts I struggled with I went back and read those sections again. Other recommended going back and reading the actual standards when prompted, that is a lot of extra work and I honestly didn't go that much in detail. Good luck and I am rooting for you!
CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!(Combinations of Roger, Yaeger, Wiley Book, Wiley TB, & NINJA Notes)

MalissaParticipantI did a question-review approach. I'd flip the the questions at the end of the chapter and try answering 5. then I'd check my answers. If I got it right–there's something I didn't need to study. If I got it wrong I would right out the right answer in a way that made sense to me. then I would go back to the section that covered the material and read and take notes on the whole section. And by section I mean like A.1 not the entire A section.
This way I found broke the material into chunks I could digest.

JasperMemberI think studying through a combination of the Wiley review books and the Wiley Online Test Banks are very effective. I have used them so far for FAR, BEC, AUD. I passed FAR and BEC with an 82, and will be sitting for AUD exam early October.

overappliedMemberI used Gleim for my main review material. I went to Wiley when I was not understanding what Gleim was trying to impart on me. So basically I just checked the index for the topic I needed help with and went from there.
It worked quite well in filling in the gaps for points where Gleim was over my head.
AUD - 75 - 07/06/2012
FAR - 72, 74, 82 - 05/30/2013
BEC - 84 - 01/16/2013
REG - 60ish, 84 - 08/16/2013CISA - Passed

jkpoker1MemberI used wiley for REG and I honestly thought it was terrible. I didn't finish the tax sections because it was so much info and extremely boring. I honestly think you are better off using an online review course for difficult material. IDK about you but I don't want to study a lot of tax material while a lot of it won't be on the exam. Also I thought the business law questions on the exam were nothing even remotely close to the wiley text or online wiley test bank.
I used Wiley for BEC though and I believe it to be sufficient for that topic area. I think for wiley to be successful, you have to be really strict about your study timeline and try to supplement with maybe wiley test bank to see a little more. I just find the wiley book for REG and FAR to be really intimidating and takes way too much time to read chapters of a lot of information that I would consider to be overkill.

weastsideMemberIf you can just do the yaeger assigned homework and nothing else, i think that would be the most efficient use of your time…
yaeger assigns problems based on probability of you seeing it on the actualy test…i only did the yaeger assigned homework questions and managed to do fine (86)

TncincyParticipantDoing the yeaager homework makes sense, I switched yeager because I couldn't get into cpaexcel and I struggled because I was trying to cover so much. I am narrowing down somethings so I won't be all over the place, but you have a good point. I didn't get to the assigned homework because I was waiting until I finished the videos and tried to do ninja notes too and mcq's from the test bank. Yes, I was all over the place and mentally stressed by test date.
No I am not going back to cpaexcel, but do want to study far and reg as cheap and simple as possible.
