Focusing strictly on Wiley test bank (not book)?

I’m in final review stage right now for BEC next week. I’m going through the Yaeger “homework” questions but I find that I’m much more efficient (and seem to do better) hammering out MCQs in the Wiley test bank rather than flipping through the book.

For some reason my scores seem better in that environment but more importantly I’m burning through questions faster. Also, it seems like the book questions are harder in a sense; that seemed especially true in the IT section. If my scores are okay there do you think that’s good enough? Opinions please!

Also, for anybody that has recently passed BEC, what were your average scores like in the test bank prior to sitting for the exam? I’d just like to gauge if I’m adequately prepared before exam day.

In the past, I've never even looked over the Book MCQ's, but there's just not enough questions in the BEC test bank and I've just started going through the Wiley Book questions for extra practice. I find them to be much more challenging compared to the Test Bank. They might not be as representative as the ones that we'll see on the actual exam, but they're definitely good at reinforcing concepts.

I've been really focusing on hammering out the MCQ's for IT, Corp. Govern., and Econ and I'm starting to feel a lot more confident on those troubling subjects. The explanations are legit, too. I like how they point out why some of the responses are wrong.

Cpareviewforfree.com also has some good questions. Not any more/less difficult compared to the Wiley's, but they word the questions a lot differently which forces you to think a little harder.

As for the Test Bank scores, I've always heard that scoring in the low 70's is great for your first cycle through the questions. As you start seeing repeater questions, you should target Mid 80's to Low 90's.

    Best of luck!

With respect to difficulty, I concur with Casey. I didn't even use the online Wiley Test Bank for BEC and FAR and found that the Wiley book questions were – taken as a whole – considerably more difficult than questions on the actual exam. I used both the Wiley book questions and WTB for REG and again found the book questions to be significantly more difficult than the actual exam. I think the WTB is between the two; not as difficult as the book questions, but a little bit more difficult (again, taken as a whole) than the actual exam.

If you want a more realistic approach in preparing for the exam, both in terms of setup and difficulty of questions, go with the Wiley Test Bank. However I thought that the book questions were extremely beneficial in the sense that if you can do those, you'll be fine on the exam.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know it's not just me imagining the difference in difficulty.

I feel fairly comfortable in IT, econ, and corp gov. My weaker areas are well, the others. I'll continue to grind out the calculation questions until test day. I don't want to take this twice!
