Wiley Question –

For people who have CPAexcel, how helpful is the written communication practice in CPAexcel? Does it grade the essays like the real thing?

I just took BEC, so I don't have my score yet, but I did not feel like CPA Excel does a good job of grading the WC SIMS. If you don't say exactly what it wants you to say, it knocks your score down substantially…I feel like on the real WC SIMS on the exam is likely a much better system of grading!

I don't think you can practice for the written communication part. I didn't do any of the Becker ones and did fine on the test. If you can write like a human and make some sense I think you're good.

CPAExcel grades BEC WC based on keywords. That's it. No grammar or anything. I don't blame them for not wanting to spend the resources developing a complex algorithm to grade something so insignificant in the overall CPA course.

I'm using CPAexcel to study for BEC right now and the WC sims are actually kind of fun because I just type in random key words in a big long list without any concern for sentence/memo structure and get 70-90% on them, amazing!!!
