    Wiley Question –

Hello, first post here. Any help would be appreciated.

For those who used/ are using CPAExcel, they provide you with a very helpful study guide/timeline for studying that keeps you on pace right up to the test date. My problem is, like many others, I work full time so the 7-9 hours of study time on a given day is absurd.

I noticed this only really happens the first week or so but the planner said I should average 22 hours a week (which is fine) but I’m afraid I’ll start falling way behind in the next day or two.

So any suggestions from those who have used CPAExcel or just general suggestions would be great!

PS I recently finished an Auditing course (reason for taking AUD first) so the material is not the issue here, it’s following a detailed plan without skipping or missing anything.

    AUD: 4/14
    FAR: 7/14

I have to agree – I'm using CPAexcel for FAR as we speak and I feel that their estimated times are way off track. I've had to adjust my study schedule to make sure I'm keeping up with their pace.

    FAR: 89
    BEC: 88
    REG: 81
    AUD: 76

CPAexcel, NINJA 10 point combo, & NINJA MCQ

"Pain is temporary, it may last for a minute, or an hour, or a day, or even a year...but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit however, it will last forever."

I've been using CPAExcel. I make my own study planner. What I didn't like about theirs is they will give you a 5 hour assignment on a Tuesday and then a 1 hour assignment on a Saturday. I wish they gave you more options to customize it.

I would make a calendar in Excel. And then I'd type out a listing of all the assignments in the CPAExcel study planner and their recommended hours. I'd break each of them up into “Lecture” (75% of the lesson) and “Questions” (25% of the lesson). I'd do the lectures one day and then the questions the next. This process would usually take me an hour or so to put together the schedule, but it worked for me. It helped me get a 99 on audit, FWIW 🙂

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

Thanks for all the help guys. Using excel everyday at work, I should have thought of that.

I will make up my own schedule tonight so my head won't explode by Friday.

Best of luck to those still studying!

Rondo– I would also add in notes to your study schedule for things that may mess up your schedule. For example, I'll make a note for the month end/quarter end days that I may need to work late. When assigning myself lessons, I'll give myself a lighter load for those days. Or if I know I'll be slow at work or if my husband won't be home for dinner, I'll assign myself a heavier load for that day. It sounds like a lot of work, but trust me, it definitely helps to anticipate every little thing that can affect your study schedule.
