AnonymousInactiveIs it worth it to try Wiley CPA excel for the 2014 review or any other suggested programs?

PandaramaParticipantCPAexcel isn't for everyone, but it does provide all the tools you need in order to pass. Combine it with Wiley test bank and you're solid. The price tag is wayyyyyy better than other companies. I was originally worried that I wasn't going to pass because it was so cheap compared to Becker and other companies, but after sitting for FAR, I feel very comfortable saying that everything on the test was covered in the material.
In addition to CPAexcel and Wiley test bank, cpareviewforfree.com + ninja notes are worth using. The ninja notes are especially good for those of us who use CPAexcel and are not highlighting or not physical writing anything we are learning. By hand writing the ninja notes, I noticed some things to stick in my memory much longer.

AnonymousInactiveI do plan to incorporate Wiley TB and Ninja Notes along with it. I did hear the textbooks that CPAexcel provides you with are spot on, so it's great to hear it first hand.

AnonymousInactiveI used CPAexcel for FAR and just passed with a 94 (first attempt). This was my main learning tool, i believe the text is very straightforward and just teaches you what will be on the exam. As a supplement, I bought the Wiley book ($50) and I found that Wiley included some of the questions that were really hard and detailed, more so then the CPAexcel questions, which will help you for those hard and nit picky questions on the actual exam.

jes7879MemberCPAExcel users – do you think now that Wiley and CPAExcel have merged the test bank has improved? I am using CPAExcel. I passed AUD and am now studying for BEC. I am also using the NINJA notes and audio for BEC. I noticed a lot of people saying they supplemented CPAExcel with the Wiley test bank. Do you still think it's necessary?

r1racerMemberI've been studying FAR for about two weeks and can say I like the format. The lectures are short for the most part but do help reinforce the study text. However, IMO I believe that test bank questions from another source are needed. I used MCQs from a few free sites and can say that the CPAExcel questions seem a bit watered down and easy.

lleonMemberCan't attest to any recent updates (my last exam was Jan this year) but I thought CPAExcel was awesome. Straightforward text, solid test bank (did NOT supplement with WTB), but it can seem like an overwhelming amount of info.. but this is the cpa exam afterall lol
The video lectures were so-so.. some professors were great (like the tax guy and the lady that does some of far) and others not great at all. Bit of a hit or miss as far as lecturers, but luckily the videos supplement the text, meaning all that is in the video is in the text but not everything in the text is in the video.
Take this with a huge grain of salt because results vary A LOT with any study course, but i got by all 4 parts first time, with less than 200 hours total of studying. I only used cpaexcel, and frankly bought it mostly for the lower price tag. There are cheaper options, but for me it seemed like it was a happy medium between being somewhat cheap, and having more than just 4 textbooks for self study.

PandaramaParticipantI've decided I don't like the new WTB. I miss some of the functions from the previous version. If I'm practicing the sims in WTB, I won't even bother trying to answer research questions now because the research function is really useless and it's better to go with CPAexcels unless the WTB improves their research sim function.
However, it is nice to have WTB and CPAexcel all in one login.
As for supplementing WTB to CPAExcel. I honestly don't know if it's useless anymore. I noticed when doing practice questions, I had many overlapping questions. However, I'm still leaning towards WTB having harder questions. So I think for now, it's best to continue to supplement CPAexcel with WTB.
