    Wiley Question –

This is probably my fault but would i have more success if i followed the CPAExcel program as instructed? By reading the chapter then doing the questions in CPAExcel or is there a better way to study? I need to find a good solid approach to this. Reading the book in 2 weeks then hammering out Ninja MCQ almost got me over the hump for AUD… I ended up with a 72 but i am starting to feel like i can never pass this and feel really defeated.

    FAR - Passed 4/2016
    AUD - Passed 11/2015
    REG - ?
    BEC - 05/28/2016

When I started I used to read the module and then do the MCQs. Once I was done the whole book, I would start over but reviewing those areas that I deemed important and highlighted and then I would redo the MCQs. The third time I would just go right to the MCQs with emphasis to those items that I got wrong the first two times I did them. As I would go on I would not review too much those areas I was 100% clear.

You can try different ways and tweak it as you see it fit for you. Hope this helps.

I've posted this before, but below was my strategy. I supplemented the Wiley Test Bank for REG and NINJA MCQ for AUD and BEC (If I had to choose, got with NINJA MCQ over the Wiley Test Bank). Each Actual exam I was within 3 points of my practice exam in CPAExcel. Good Luck!

For each days assignments using the study planner

Day 1 – Read the text, do PQs in study mode, and then EQs in study mode

Day 2 – Did EQs in Exam mode and SIMs if required.

If I got a 90 is was done with that lesson

If I got less than a 90 I would take some notes and then try again the next day

I took 2 weekly review quizzes (30 questions each). One over everything I learned that week and one over everything I've learned so far.

When I got through all the lessons I went back and started back at lesson one and took the EQs in exam mode using my 90% or retake the next day method. This served as an awesome final review. Took me about a week to accomplish.

    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

For me, I need to have some basic exposure to the subject and then start working through MCQ's to really get the material and to be the least frustrated in doing so.

The NINJA suggestion seems to fit my learning style the most, which is to plow through all your videos first (don't do the MCQ's yet!) making lots of notes, then work so many MCQ's you're sick of them, then re-write your notes (or the NINJA notes), then study the materials you have and work more MCQ's.

To be honest, I purchased yaeger videos for FAR and AUD and despite best intentions didn't make it through even half of either, so for BEC I've skipped videos all together (a good substitute would be to read the book, although I'll admit I didn't do that either).

I need to consume the information in a fairly small period of time and get a lot of reinforcement from the MCQ's and the videos just take too long for me. It sounds like you may be more like me, so giving the NINJA method a shot may be worth your while.

    FAR- 75
    BEC- 83
    REG- 85

Officially done! Exclusively used NINJA for BEC, REG, and FAR

@OKC so you took 2 days per section? I am assuming that means you did multiple sections per day. At this point i really dont have anything to lose so i will give that a try if i end up having to take FAR again and i will try this with my next attempt at AUD. How long did you take to study and how many hours were you committing per day/week?

    FAR - Passed 4/2016
    AUD - Passed 11/2015
    REG - ?
    BEC - 05/28/2016

I am still trying to figure out the best learning method. For AUD round 1, I watched the videos, took some notes (but mostly highlighted) and did the MCQ's given for the sections there. I did some questions in the test bank, but not enough I don't think. I didn't have time to do a review, and obviously that ended up costing me. For round 2, I basically just reviewed the stuff and answered some more questions, and somehow greatly increased, but still not enough.

For REG, I am using Ninja (I found it the night before AUD round 2 so wasn't able to utilize it for that). I hate the Wiley videos and end up zoning out/staring out the window, so I am opting not to use them. I am reading the Ninja book since it makes more sense to me than Wiley for some reason, but I think I took too long doing business law and now I feel like I'm rushing to get through tax which sucks. I am listening to Jeff's audio like crazy and I am trying to get through the books by this weekend. Worst case, I will spend some more time with the tax info next week while rewriting the notes and hammering MCQ's. Then review the week after that before the exam.

    AUD - 56 - 68 - 61 - 9/8/16
    REG - 75
    FAR - 7/15/16
    BEC - TBD

@kyle, yes it took me two days per lesson. I used the study planner tool to determine the lessons that I would study that day.

FAR took me the longest to study for, 7 weeks. It took about 4 to get through the material once. A week to redo all the questions, then reviewed for about 2 1/2. Studied around 20 hrs a week.

7 weeks is the max in my opinion. Could be done in shorter.

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

I will take this approach. Maybe i just didnt give CPAExcel a fair chance to actually use the entire program.

No for FAR. I did use NINJA MCQ for AUD and BEC though,

FAR has soooo much material that CPAExcel was enough.

    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

@okcpa2015 sorry to hijack Kyle's post but any tips for using NINJA for BEC? I saw on another post that you did over 4K MCQs. By the way how long did this take you? I really need a pass for this re-take so any help would be appreciated. I'm going through all of Wiley questions as we speak and doing pretty well (first time using that test bank) and then I'm going straight up NINJA since I only did about a couple of hundred questions last time. Thanks for your help. 🙂

Does anyone know if i will still be ok with the 2014 material or i should go ahead and buy the new material for $105

    AUD - Passed 11/2015
    REG - ?

@Zumo I took me 47 hours to get 4900 questions completed. Took about a month.

I would recommend doing sessions of 20 questions. Two sessions of new questions, then one session of random questions until you have seen all the questions.

Then work your problem areas while trying to hit the review phase. I think someone could pass just with NINJA MCQ for BEC.

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88
