I had Wiley CPAExcel since June or so and just today I found out that they have an offline version. I downloaded and installed it, but instead of it asking me for my username and password, it asked for a serial number. Anyone has an idea of how to get one?

I did, just now, emailed a customer rep, but I figured I’d post this question and hopefully someone would have an answer.

Search your email inbox. The email that contains my username/password also contains my serial number. One very important note: the offline version gets installed on your computer. I'm assuming they sent you the USB drive with the offline version. This was preloaded onto the flash drive whenever you ordered CPAexcel. So basically, this is not automatically updated like the online version is. I don't think this should be a problem since you ordered the course in June, just an FYI.

Yes, the offline version has everything the online version does. The only difference being is that it is not updated automatically for the new content (the differences in the new content updates are minimal, I don't think it's a very big deal).

I got my offline version with CD's that contain the videos (aside from the CD to install the software). I didn't buy the USB, but I'd assume that has videos included.

Also, offline version requires that you sync your scores/progress online every 2 weeks too.

As other posters noted, serial number is in the email where they give you your username and password.

Hello All,

I got my flash drive few days ago and installed it. However, when I launched the program for the first time, a dialog window appeared saying cpaexcel loading and inside that box said cpaexcel is already running. It really didn't launch the program. I did un-install and re-install but to no avail. Just one weird thing going on was during the installation process, when I clicked show details, nothing shown up while during the un-installation process, details were shown when you clicked show details. I also turned the norton off

I know how to follow 1-2-3 instructions and quite good with computer. Installing a program should never be this hard, lol.

I had my husband called the tech support trying to figure out the goofiness going on. He was very helpful but had to talk to the Master Engineer as we could not solve the issue

I have a brand new hp laptop with windows 8 OS and I knew it should be compatible. However, i did suspect these could be the issues.

Does anyone have issues launching the offfline program?

Anything worth doing is probably not easy, but the rewards are worth it. (unknown)

I have fixed the issues myself when my gut said it's compatibility issues. I ran troubleshoot compatibility and found out it was set to Windows Service Xpack 3.

Yes, the program is compatible to Windows 8 but it is set to run for Windows Service XPack3 (seriously?, lol). It should have been stated that if you're running Windows 8, etc. make sure you go through these steps to run in compatibility mode with so and so. It might have been stated somewhere but didn't find it. It's always fun to play on the computer program. I find troubleshooting computer fun! Like it.

I guess CPA Examinees are expected to be a computer geek at the same time, lol. It's fun and my Offline CPAExcel offline app works like a magic charm now.
