    Wiley Question –

    Hi there,

I am trying to purchase AUD and FAR supplements from CPAExcel but not sure if I should buy a course with video lectures.

Many ppl say they tend to skip video lectures when they study.

So…please give me some advice ASAP!!

    Thank you!!

I honestly don't know what the benefit of video lectures is. I don't think I could absorbe any lasting knowledge from that. Everyone is different I suppose, but I think videos are a waste of time, as long as you have a well written book on your hands.

I'm surprised at how few people here use Gleim. Maybe it just seems that way, but it looks like most people here use Becker and then Ninja, Wiley and Yager or whatever. Have almost not heard anyone mention that they use Gleim.

When I went to undergrad the consesus was that Gleim was the best for studying for CPA. And after using it to study for all the sections, I would say that it is quite decent. Not without flaws, but will get the job done.

I wasn't a fan of the videos with CPAexcel, but it honestly depends on how you learn best. The books are great, and the 90% of the videos were professors reading off the slides. Still, if you learn best by listening, it may be best to get the video course.

I think the advantage to videos is they tend to emphasize the important areas. Its impossible to learn everything in a 500 page review book, and the lectures do a good job of pointing out big, important information. Also, if there is anything additional you need to know they often direct you to the study text. I use CPAExcel and I do enjoy the videos, although some of the professors are better than others. I also like CPAExcel's books (which you can buy for like 20 bucks for a kindle or ipad) and I use the book to clarify topics i find more difficult.
