I was never a fan of the questions in CPAExcel but i did ready the material but used Ninja to supplement it.

    FAR - Passed 4/2016
    AUD - Passed 11/2015
    REG - ?
    BEC - 05/28/2016

FAR was my first exam and I used CPAExcel only (didn't know NINJA at the time).

It was plenty of material to prepare you for the exam. The SIMs seemed very similar to the exam, and there are a ton of mcqs.

When you complete a less (scoring 90% or above) the lesson dot turns “green.” This was very helpful when reviewing. I would take a quiz of 30 questions, and for the ones I missed, I knew exactly what lessons to go back and review because the dot had changed to yellow or red.

Regardless of which prep material you use, FAR take the most discipline to get ready for in my opinion.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I averaged around 20 to 25 hours a week studying…

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

I have access to CPAexcel and I only use it if need clarification or need to watch a lecture. Otherwise, I stick with Ninja.

I used CPAexcel exclusively for FAR (and all other sections) and I thought it was more than enough to prepare you. Honestly I think all the review programs probably are, its just finding one you like and most importantly PUTTING IN THE TIME. The best review program in the world won't make up for a lack of effort.

    FAR 10/24/15 - 87
    BEC 11/30/15 - 88
    AUD 01/10/16 - 88
    REG 02/27/16 - 77

That is why I added “given the study effort”. Thanks to everyone for your input.

@ Excel14: I used CPAExcel and I think it prepared me well. I don't think my failures stemmed from their course. I am also now using Ninja MCQ for FAR and have used Becker materials too though to a lesser extent.

    Kemi,

Ouch. Three consecutive 74s. The CPA gods have been cruel to you. Hang in there, you're so close.

I'm going to try CPAExcel for FAR if I have to take a retake. I've tried 3 tests w/ Becker and haven't passed one, so time to change it up.

    REG - ('11) 71, ('12) 71 - Becker
    AUD - TBD
    BEC - TBD
    FAR - ('16) 54 - Becker

@ Excel14 …. lol, yeah, I now know what the word ‘anguish' means … but I'm hanging on and hoping to go above 74 this time. Thanks!

RSBro … I used Becker a while back and it just wasn't encouraging at all for FAR. I bought CPAExcel and started off like I had never heard of debits and credits ever, and took my time to go through the lectures and really understand concepts and such. I'd say CPAExcel helped me more with details and basic understanding than Becker did.
