i will also be supplementing it with the NINJA ten point combo.
Do you think if I only get the self study pack from wiley cpaexcel and get the 10 point combo it will be more than enough?

A lot of it depends on your studying style. I like CPAexcel, but after my first week of studying for my first section I stopped watching the videos. I passed FAR and BEC with no problems (both of which since expired, so I'm debating jumping back into it even though it isn't necessary for my current position). I read the text, then did the MCQs and SIMs for each section until I understood every one that I got wrong.

If the self-study pack text is the same as or very similar to the text in their course packages and you're very comfortable with and disciplined using a self-study method, the self-study pack and 10-point combo should be enough. I'm totally fine with maintaining a study schedule myself, and I learn better by reading then applying (via MCQs and SIMs), so that method works well for me.

But if you need a little more discipline or feel the videos, professor mentoring, “partner until you pass” guarantee, etc. will benefit you, then one of their courses might be better. But it can certainly be done with just the self-study pack + NINJA combo.

I've been using CPA Excel for all the exams (self-study). I just listen to each lecture, do the mcq's and the TBS and then move on to the next lecture. Once you've finished all the lectures and MCQ's, go back and just do sets of ~20-30 mcqs at a time until your exam. If a certain topic is particularly hard AND it is heavily tested then go back and redo the lecture or read the study text if needed. If something is particularly confusing and difficult for you then just get a general sense of it and move on.
I also used Ninja mcq's and the study packet for Audit when I didn't pass the first time. I only studied wiley for ~60 hours before the first exam so I probably didn't need the extra content as much as I needed general study time, but it was still useful. The Ninja mcq interface is sooo much better than wiley but I found the content to be a little inaccurate at times. I would start with wiley and then supplement with Ninja stuff as needed.

@mb23 thanks for replying, I just called Wiley cpa excel and they told me that the course outlines in the gold, silver and platinum courses are different from the course outline in the self study pack, the self study pack outlines are from wiley and consists of the test bank. pretty confusing!!

@Antmusic thanks for replying which self study course are you using, I think the self study consists of the outlines, focus notes and the test bank only, there are no lectures included in it.
