    Hello all…

I’d like to hear from someone of you who used CPAExcel for BEC. I have an abbreviated study schedule for BEC (taking it 5 weeks from today) and am just coming off the Aud exam last Wed. So I’m starting tired already.

For AUD, I picked up the Wiley book for the test bank and extra help on the SIMS. I ended up taking my notes and using the WILEY exclusively (except for CPAExcel’s MCQ’s). I felt Wiley was a little stonger–although why wouldn’t it be when it included everything and the kitchen sink? 😀 After the exam I went back and compared the books on the SIM content and neither seemed to have an edge (yet they were consistent that they didn’t prepare me for two of the major sims). Neither drilled down to the detail that the SIMS did–nitpicky stuff “must a CPA actually lick the envelope that the engagement letter is sent in or can a sponge be used”. 😀

In any event, I am just going to use CPAExcel for notes for BEC and buy the software version of the Wiley test bank.

Can someone give me some faither that CPAExcel is enough?

    hello,

I used cpaexcel for my retake which I am taking today. I will let you know when I get out how well it prepared me. I used becker mostly with wiley sprinkled in during my first time taking which I failed by one :(. This time I did heavy cpaexcel (which I LOVE) and wiley and becker sprinkled in.

    So wish me luck! 😉

I hope so, because I am currently using CPAExcel for BEC. I will also use the Wiley test bank and CPAreviewforfree.com as I did with REG.

I am supposed to take BEC in 3 weeks, but I am not sure that is realistic – we'll have to see. I will sit before the end of the testing window, but I want to do it ASAP so I can start on FAR. I started 1/9, so this gives me a total of 5 weeks, too.

I am halfway through the lessons 2 weeks in, so I am keeping pace, but there is a lot of memorization.

I had CPAexcel + Ninja notes + Wiley book, but I didn't use the Wiley book at all. CPAexcel and the Ninja notes were all that I needed. I think that using the Wiley software will be overkill and will probably take too much time. CPAexcel has an excellent testing software. I did all of the CPAexcel assignments, and that took up all of my study time!

    @Kandisjoy

When going through the CPAExcel did you use the textbooks or the lectures, etc?. I have the textbook which I started reading and taking notes through. Then I planned to do the MCQ and task based simulations as I went. I need the textbook because I often study at work and other place which don't give me access to the net.

I'm just wondering how you studied using CPAExcel…there are lots of combinations of ways.

    Thanks,

@CPApending – Luckily I already had this all typed out in other posts 🙂 I didn't use the books or lectures. I just printed up anything that I needed from the online portion, but that's because I had access while at work. If I hadn't, I probably would have bought the books. I used CPAexcel and Jeff's ninja notes.. here's how:

CPAexcel: I followed the study plan – I read the material and did the exam questions. If I failed on the exam questions, I did the proficiency questions and/or reviewed the text. If I did well on and felt comfortable with the exam questions, I moved on to the next topic.

Ninja notes by Jeff: As I was reading CPAexcel material, I would find the related section in the Ninja notes and write additional notes on that. I also inserted my own pages of notes into the Ninja notes so that everything was organized by topic. I flagged every section of the Ninja notes with a big sticky tab and then I flagged important topics with little stick tabs. I also made flash cards for almost everything that I thought I might have trouble remembering. I bought the neon colored cards and each color represents a topic.

NOTE: Towards the end, I ended up making around 90% of my notes on note cards. Note cards helped me a ton!

Wiley book: If I was really struggling with a topic, I'd read over it in my Wiley book just to get another explanation. I also used the additional questions in the Wiley book if I wanted to strengthen my knowledge in an area. (Really didn't need to do this with BEC – mostly with AUD).

After I made it through the entire study program in CPAexcel, I took the final exam test in CPAexcel. Then I took notes on every single question that I wasn't sure about, whether or not I got it wrong. Then i took another test. I kept doing it until test day. Also I went through my note cards constantly and any that I knew by heart, I'd put in a separate pile. Then I'd work through the remaining pile over and over until I knew them all. Then I'd go through them again a few days later to make sure I still knew it! I did that throughout the entire study process. It helped a TON!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Im currently using CPAExcel for BEC. Here is how I use it to study:

    1. I watch the lecture.

    2. I would go through the slides and rewrite them on legal pads.

    3. Do the proficiency questions until I get them all correct.

    4. Do the exam questions until I get them all correct.

    5. Move on to the next topic.

Im also using Gleim for additional practice questions.

okay so I am back. Again I love CPAexcel but as far as how it related to my exam today not close. Do I think that CPAexcel lacked in preparation… not all. I think that my exam was so far left that no I mean no study materials would have prepared me it. I can't believe that they asked so many questions that when I left the test center I could not find the information on. Good luck to you!
