i am currently using cpaexcel as my primary study tool to prepare for FAR. I have heard good things about the Wiley test bank. but, i noticed that the wiley logo is all over the cpaexcel website, i’m guessing they recently merged. so are the cpaexcel questions used the same as the wiley test bank? i wouldnt want to buy the wiley test bank if the questions are going to be the same/similar… Anyone have experience with using cpaexcel and wiley recently?

I am using CPAexcel and WTB. Yes there are some duplicates in the WTB,but I think you should still purchase it. It has a lot of question that CPAexcel doesn't cover. Also, you will probably start to memorize questions in cpaexcel. Plus WTB is only 85$ i think, and there are usually promotions every now and then.

@cscpa21 – Yes, Wiley recently bought out CPAExcel. Actually it's probably been about 6 months by now.

QUESTION COUNTS
There are about 12,000 combined questions with Wiley (7K) and CPAexcel (5K) together. We are in the process of identifying dupes and uniques. As you probably know there are two types of questions: AICPA released and publisher-authored. But questions are tweaked and modified so there is fuzziness in how you bucket questions as “unique.” Of the Wiley questions about 4K are Test Bank and 3K are book and there is about 10% of those that overlap. All in all you can probably say at 10K unique.

Yes Wiley acquired Efficient Learning Systems, Inc. in November of 2012. We are in the process of merging our product offering. For 2014 there will be one combined product called “Wiley CPAexcel.”
