I was using Yeager for the other 3 sections and passed before I lost my USB with lectures…I know…just my luck

Now that I only have Wiley Textbook left and my WTB has also expired. Anyone successfully passed BEC with Wiley books alone? Or are there better suggestions? Also, for those BEC veterans, Were there a lot of questions from IT chapter? Or is it more conceptual like AUD with little to no calculation? Just trying to get a feel of the test before tackling it down blindly and hope for the best!

Bump – hey for those of you using Yaeger for BEC, Cindy recommends to look over the Audit Wiley book as well. Is this really necessary to pass BEC?

    Thanks!

For others reading this thread – Wiley book on its own is definitely sufficient. I'd love to hear how it worked for the OP, but I used Wiley books for all tests and passed all on the first try. Yes, I did use the test bank too; however, the MCQs and SIMs in the book would be sufficient without the test bank.

@ceesmitty I passed BEC several months before even opening my AUD book, so I'm not sure why Yaeger would push for you to look over AUD first. But if you have the AUD book, maybe look at the content breakdown for BEC and read just the AUD portions that relate to it? It could be that Yaeger skips a couple topics in BEC because they're covered in AUD, so especially if you see something on the content breakdown that's not in your Yaegar BEC materials, I'd look for it in the Wiley AUD book (or Google it if you don't have the AUD book).

I agree with Lila, I don't think it is necessary to read the chapters Cindy recommends for BEC….I did read those chapters and it didn't really help…that being said when I started studying AUD after BEC I had a few aha moments but they were not in the chapters she recommended.

@flamerhino I would recommend getting WTB…It is much easier to study from WTB than the MCQs in the book. I felt as though many of the questions on my BEC test were really close to what I saw in the WTB. Also, being a new year the WTB will be more updated than your book. The only thing I would add is that I felt WTB and the Wiley book did not prepare me for the WC which was almost my undoing.

    FAR: I slayed the Dragon!
    BEC: I defeated the Siren!
    AUD: I eliminated Medusa!
    REG: ?????

Yeager gets on my nerves about pushing their views of what the correct batting order is for these exams. I watched the BEC cram and found my blood pressure going up every time Cindy chirped “I'm sure you remember this from FAR, but we'll cover it again!” and wanting to yell back “NO lady. I haven't taken FAR yet…so how about you start talking about the section I actually paid for.”. Ugh.

I found the cram to help on the cost accounting section but other than that my Wiley book was much better than the videos. I'm sure if you get stuck on a particular chapter your pals here at A71 can help and I've also found You Tube to be a surprising resource. There is some crossover between audit and BEC but not so much that you are at a disadvantage in taking BEC before audit. Yeager is annoying like that, so don't sweat it.

As to what you'll see on exam day…no one can really answer that because BEC is truly all over the place! You could sit for BEC 10 times in a row and get 10 completely different scores. Do the best you can to cover everything and brace yourself for oddball questions on test day! πŸ™‚
