Anyone ever seen a Wiley simulation on the AUD section exam?

    I’ve done them (most anyway) and I am wondering if they are worth redoing. My final push is being limited by my quarter/year end duties at work and I am trying to figure out where to spend my time.

    Just curious if anyone saw simulations from the Wiley book on the CPA exam.

    Thanks,

    That's really awesome that you have done all of them. Some people recommend not working through practice SIMs and sticking to MCQ, but I found the Wiley SIMs helpful for both REG & FAR. I think since you've gone through all of them once, if you have extra time to spare, I'd personally work through more MCQ. AUD is an evil mini beast. I don't know about SIMs, but I've definitely gotten at least one MCQ on the actual exam that was either in my Wiley or Becker materials for each exam. (hehe)

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    I did every sim in Wiley (online) last time and didn't see anything on my exam. My sims were all completely new to me–in form and some in content!!!! I think that is why it is hard to study for…and why most people review some sims but mostly go over the mcq's. The hardest thing I found about the sims is that the wording on some of the sims, is very vague, and could go two ways. Hard for me to explain without violating code of conduct, etc. I do agree with Peanut, I did see some mcq's that seem to pop right out of Wiley/Becker.

    I think you have done a great job studying….Good luck next week.

    I didn't do any sims for AUD when practicing (while using Wiley & Yaeger). When I took my test I got through the MCQs in 2 hours and left myself 2 hours for SIMs. I was able to look up the answer for the most parts to every SIM other than the one that just had JEs (ugh!)

    If you know the material, then SIMs should be fine, they were basically multiple choice questions in SIM form to me. Jeff recommends doing MCQs and not focusing on SIMs because of this reason. I feel like this is true, especially for AUD. With FAR, I wish I would have practiced SIMs just to have a better idea, but I'm working on that this time around!

    I practiced all the Sims that Gary Bulmash from Yaeger assigned, which was a lot. It helped me tackle some of the Sims on the exam, but I did have a few Sims that were completely out of left field. But for the most part, the Wiley Sims are good way to prepare for the real thing.

    Woah woah woah wait a minute….are you telling me that the research function is available for all of the SIMS? I thought that the research function was only available for the specific research SIM.

    If I can look up the answers for the SIMS, that should guarantee 100%, right?

    It's not a guaranteed 100% because some of the stuff takes understanding of the standards and such and some stuff that's not necessarily in the research available, but I definitely think if you have plenty of time left over to do a lot of research you should do reallyy well on the SIMs

    @CPApending,

    even though you have the research function, it is not easy to do research for audit sims, because some of the answers are really hard to find IMO. to me, there is no way to study them except keep doing MCQs and make sure you understand the concept. Audit sims are pretty tough.

    I've gotten stronger on SIMS for both REG and AUD because I left 2 hours for them. I really didn't know how to do most of the SIMS on my own.
