Hey all, I’m new here. I’m just starting my CPA journey, sitting for BEC at the end of this testing period. As I’m just getting started, I’m unsure of the most efficient way to really study. I have UWorld Roger CPA Review, which of course comes with the Wiley books, and I also purchased the Ninja Audio. I’m sitting at the end of August so I definitely have time, I just want to make sure I’m using it efficiently. Basically what I’ve done for the first BEC chapter so far (economics) in this order:
1) Read Roger’s textbook for the chapter, while answering the short sample of MCQ’s at the end of the chapter.
2) Watched Roger’s lectures, taking notes along the way. Even though I feel pretty comfortable with this chapter, I know writing notes is a helpful tool to help remember it all better.
3) After watching the lectures, I would reread Roger’s textbook, now highlighting the key portions along the way.
4) After rereading, I did the MCQ’s in the Wiley textbook (112/126 correct so like an 89%, I’m not sure if I should be satisfied with that?) and read through all the reasons why my answers were right or wrong.
5) Did the MCQ’s on the Wiley software.Along the way, I’ve been listening to the Ninja Audio also. I essentially just listen to it on my commute to/from work, which is a bit over an hour each way.
My most important question is, am I studying the proper way? I know different techniques work for different people, but I’m still open to suggestions. Should I be going back and doing the Wiley MCQ’s a second time now, or is the second go-through something I do after finishing more BEC sections? Should I be re-writing different things as opposed to taking notes during the lecture? (ie: re-write what’s in Roger’s textbook, or write down what’s being said in the Ninja Audio).
Sorry if this is a little long-winded; I’m just incredibly nervous as I’m unsure if I’m using my time well, and I don’t want to waste time studying the wrong way. Thanks to anybody who can help, it’ll be greatly appreciated! 🙂
