I used Roger exclusively for FAR and passed on my first attempt. The general vibe at my firm is I hear about people failing with Becker and then passing with Roger, and not vice versa. Certainly, people who use Becker have passed as well, but I haven't heard of anyone failing with Roger. Clearly, this does happen though.
I followed the study plan outlined. I did the required lectures while highlighting, went back and read the chapter, and did the questions twice. While I passed first attempt, there are two things I did not do that I should have:
After each section if possible, or at the very least, every five sections, I should have given myself a cumulative review of everything up to that point. At the end of the course, I ended up doing a Roger CRAM course to relearn everything I had forgotten in the 3 days leading up to my test. The CRAM was brutal, but I owe my success on the exam to it.
Second, I did not give the sims their due respect. This led to last minute panicking the morning of the exam when I was frantically doing sim after sim before I left for Prometric.
Fortunately, I soaked enough information in and was able to perform strongly on my MCQs (strangely, the majority of my questions were conceptual), and comparable on the sims. Roger focuses a lot on journal entries, even when not necessary. This benefited me greatly in my sims, even though I had not given them the attention they deserved.
I would recommend Roger to anyone, just make sure you do more than the bare minimum he suggests.
