Hi all,
Just started UWorld Roger CPA Review and now I’m worried. I just got an email saying, hey we’ve done a reorganization of all the materials for 2014 and new roger books… I just paid for my class a week ago and my materials didn’t even ship until TODAY! but now I am worried I don’t have the newest materials from roger and I know it shouldn’t matter, but it bothers me because I spent so much money on it. Does anyone know if perhaps I will be getting the updated/new materials in the mail?
Starting AUDIT… this is just the beginning

Yay I got the NEW 2014 books that match the video order and everything. I'm so happy.
I was confused because I thought I was getting Wiley AND Roger books. But now that I see them in person I'm glad I only have ONE set of books.
Onto FAR. Planning to sit in early April. I got the 6 month extension (18 months total) already so I should be okay, I assume late Feb will already be filled by the time I get my NTS… and I'll prob need the extra time for FAR.

December 20, 2013 at 6:36 am #501801AnonymousInactiveAnother vote for Roger here. I pre-ordered the 2014 materials about a month ago but I've had access to the online stuff. I used it to study for the last bit of my accounting classes for my bachelor's degree and also a written test I had to take for my state's Department of Revenue to apply for an auditor position. I was on the fence with CPAexcel and Roger and ultimately chose Roger because of his awesome teaching style, he is the only professor I have ever had that can honestly keep me interested the whole way through. Another thing I've discovered is that his recommendations to constantly drink coffee or caffeine to make it through works great 😉
Planning to take FAR in late February so I plan to begin my intense studying a day or so after Christmas.
My books shipped out Monday and should arrive this coming Monday (the 23rd)

December 20, 2013 at 4:23 pm #501865tough_kittyMemberYes, it looks like they made changes. I had 2 sets of books this year. I hope it's for the better! Let us know!
FAR: 81 (May 2013)
BEC: 81 (July 2013)
REG: 83 (August 2013)
AUD: 82 (November 2013)

California CPA since 1/30/14December 22, 2013 at 6:18 am #501867ignoreitMember@Slweal Does the one set of book include both the Wiley and RogerCPA material? Or is it solely RogerCPA material?
I'm on the fence in regards to purchasing Roger's review course. I would love to know what materials were provided prior to this reorganization and how it has changed since said reorganization. Thanks in advance!

December 22, 2013 at 8:19 am #501869SlwealMemberI got one box that weighed 14 lbs. It contained:
4 Roger books that are full sized books, but by Roger
CD with Wiley Test Bank software
Introduction papers/directions
(and I also ordered the offline course so I got a flash drive too, I used a code to get this added free and 200$ off in addition, but I added 6 months extension so I paid the regular price of the package in the end but got the extras free)
So NO Wiley books, but YES Wiley Test bank (valid for the term you've paid for, in my case 18 months)
In terms of reorganization, Roger dropped having a set of Wiley books AND RogerCPA note books and opted for full Roger CPA books only. In terms of the online lectures, he spread out the classes into more segments. For instance, Audit use to be 4, 4 hour classes (which were already broken down into segments an hour or less). But NOW it's 9 sections broken down by topic rather than by class (he would cover more than one subject during a single 4 hours class in person). But he stopped doing “live” courses this year too and since everyone is using the online classes I believe he felt it would be better to break into smaller pieces so people could decide how many segments to watch at a time, or fit in a segment easier with the shorter duration.
I don't know how many sections FAR was before the change, but now it's 33!!! (When Audit is only 9!!!)

December 22, 2013 at 3:38 pm #501871ignoreitMemberThank you so much for the update! I'm somewhat bummed that the RogerCPA books are now full sized textbooks, as I wanted the material presented to me as concise as possible (with the option of going through the Wiley textbook for any subject areas that I found needed more explanation.) What I liked about Roger's book prior to the change (at least from what I saw from his demos) was that the book was written simply and in a structure that was easily followed. I'm not sure how this has changed with the new full Roger textbook. How do you feel about this change?
However, the idea that each class is broken down topic by topic is great! I would think that it'd give him more time to explain each topic instead of rushing to try to fit everything into say, a four hour class/video.
Once again, thank you so much for the update! Good luck with studying! I'll be right there with you in a couple weeks.

December 22, 2013 at 5:26 pm #501872AnonymousInactiveGuys as far as I have read the new “updates” of Roger, I could say they only go deeper in some concepts, that were mentioned only in 2013 (I think Roger thought they were ok to know but not to go deeper in 2013). But the idea, the big picture the same, that doesn't change.
In either 2013 or 2014, you are able to respond Wiley questions and pass the exams as far as they say.
I like the idea of having only one book and avoid as much as possible double-reading Wiley but that is my preference.
I think 2014 is better in that sense.

December 23, 2013 at 1:37 am #501813Misu243ParticipantTo be honest here..the biggest thing I would be concerned about is..would they be sending out the Wiley 2014 editions for the books or the 2013 ones? I am getting ready to order REG but will not until I am entirely sure the Wiley 2014 books are out..
