    NINJA Question –

    Hi all,

I graduated last year, and have been putting off all exams since I had a baby a couple weeks after graduating. Now, I work full time, have a 1 year old and a 4 year old, and I’m really struggling to study. My grandmother had bought me Becker last year to help me study, but I just couldn’t seem to do it then. When I realized I only had six months left in Becker, I got an NTS for ALL 4 EXAMS (like an idiot), and thought, “What the hell, I’ll just take them all and see how I do.” I’ve already reschedule FAR once, it’s my first. Now, I have it coming up in 10 days and I’m freaking out.

So far, I’ve gotten through F1-F7 lectures (along with some of the extra skills practice). I have only done F1 multiple choice. My plan was to do each one of the practice tests this Saturday and Sunday. I also have the entire NINJA package. I’ve listened to the audio once or twice, but that’s it.

So here’s my question, I really don’t want to reschedule because, as I said, I have an NTS for all four exams. If I reschedule, I’m going to be wasting the money on at least one exam. But then again, if I go into a test unprepared, I might fail and waste that money anyway.

If you had Becker and NINJA at your disposal, what would you spend the last 10 days on? I feel if I finish all the lectures that my brain will just get even more fried trying to cram it all in. I’m leaning more towards spending my time doing MCQ’s, Sims, etc. Thoughts?

I'm in a similar predicament, I took FAR last July and passed then found out I was pregnant. I had no energy so only managed to take BEC and Failed… the procrastination bug has definitely bit me! Anyways if I was in your situation I would do MCQ cram, with a sprinkle of sims to get familiar with them. There is a video or story about how to pass with only 20 days to prepare. https://www.another71.com/how-to-pass-the-cpa-exam-in-20-days/ Do you have anyone to help you with the kiddos? If you do, I would have them watch them the full weekend before the test and spend the whole weekend doing MCQ and SIMS. It will be a hail-mary, but if you apply yourself, you might be able to pull it off. Also, if you do that cram the weekend before the test, you will be able to assess if you need to push it out a week or two.

I definitely agree with the other posts. Cram MCQ's and when you notice you're missing a lot in one topic, read the book and make notes to stay engaged. I also have been studying with Becker and Ninja for REG and will sit Wednesday. I feel like Becker's lectures were informative but really shouldn't be as long as there are. I wouldn't waste time watching those. Listen to audio at all times – in the car, in the shower, getting ready. I've found that even if I'm halfway paying attention, I still catch on to a couple topics. I would definitely knock out as much as Ninja's MCQ's as you can – I find the solutions WAY better at explaining a question than Becker.

    Good luck to you!!

Personally I wouldn't waste the amount of time it would take on the practice exams. They don't give you immediate feedback on a question which is what you need to learn the material. I would do multiple choice, which tell you immediately whether you got it right or wrong and why.
