Taking AUD in 6 days and just scored 70% on practice – where to focus?

    NINJA Question –

I just took a practice exam using the Ninja test bank and I scored a 70%. I averaged an 82 on MCQs and 54 on Sims (eek!).

For my overall studying, it says I’m currently Averaging 81% and my Average Trending is 82.33%. (not sure if that factors in the practice exam but I would think so..)

All that said – where should I focus the next few days? I’m a little worried about how terribly I did on Sims… then again this was the first time I’d even touched them.

Should I continue to just hammer out MCQ or would it be worthwhile running through some of the Sims? I’ve read some people say they studied MCQ only and that was adequate to pass Sims.

You probably need to do more sims in this last week. Keep at the MCQs to stay sharp, but do more sims.

remember to use the authoritative literature on all the sims, not just the research question. If you even have to prepare a journal entry as a SIM and are a bit iffy on the rule(s) to apply, get some direction from the AL before you prepare that journal entry. If you are 97% sure on a drop down, look it up in the AL and get your reassurance. The sims should almost be “freebies” if you allow yourself enough time to use the tools available to you.

Ok thanks for the input all. I'll try to get through all SIMS and still do MCQ in between.

@txcpagal12 I also take Audit in a few days. Have you completed all the MCQs? I am only 50% complete. I am now rewriting the NINJA notes before getting back to more MCQs.

    Audit: 11/28/15 (72) April 2016
    Regulation: 2016
    Financial: 2016

@CPAlife04 – unfortunately I'm only about 60% done but I'm planning to get through almost all of them before Friday… (although I know that's a lofty goal given I work the next 2 days – but at least I have Thursday & Friday off and will dedicate all of both days to hammering out MCQ!)

    Good luck with your test!

honestly a 70% on the practice is fine…I think I was in the low to mid 70s too. I wouldn't worry about the SIMs honestly because I truly believe you can't really “practice” for those. But you better know your AL! The research will come in handy for the other SIMs as well as your normal research question so practice those FOR SURE.

Just keep doing multiple choice, know the transactions cycle well, and know the relationship between audit risk/ inherent risk/ control risk well

Do look into the detection , Inherent and the control risk which factor affect these risk and practice all the sims related to these risks , that really gonna to help you .

The greatest thing I nailed down before AUD was all the different types of engagements that can be performed for each type of entity and what level of assurance is given. If you take those three factors there are probably 100 combinations. It's extremely important to be familiar with the type of engagement performed for each type of entity and the opinion rendered from such an engagement.

    Good luck to you!
