Should I NINJA MCQ the day of the exam?

I take FAR in under 24 hours; my 3rd attempt…ugh..see my signature to see how painful take 2 was.

I took some time off of work so I have been look at a few Roger videos and reading the book. I sporadically did NINJA MCQs as well over the last day. I’ll do a set of 20 at a time and it depends on the luck of the draw. Usually I will score 70-80% but some of the sets I bomb and score around 40%. This is not good for my confidence going in yet I am struggling to see if I can pick up some bit of info that could make the difference between a pass and a fail.

    Overall I’m trending 75%.

My plan for the test day is to read the governmental chapter for the 5th time the day of the test since 10-15% will be governmental without any doubt. Then maybe MCQ until about 2 hours before the test.

Honestly, if you don’t know the material at least a few days prior to the test; unless it is just pure definitions it is unlikely cramming will do any good.

    Your thoughts?

I also have index card notes I’ll take a final look at before going to the test center.

I've heard of some people doing 1-2 sets of 30 the day of the exam but I stay away from that. I want to be as fresh as possible come exam time. Also I'm a firm believer that if I don't already know it come exam day, a few more sets of MCQ won't help me. I do like to skim over my ninja notes in the car right before I go in the building.

I usually did 20 questions just before I left to go to the testing center to warm myself up so that I was in the MCQ mode. I found that this eased the transition into the real exam because I was already in that mindset. Other than that, I would just review key notes leading up to walking into the testing center.

I personally take the day before and day off from studying. I'm of the mindset that your brain needs to relax and if you're struggling with an area you will stress over it more.

I'll do 10-15 at most right before I head to Prometric, just to get my mind in the mode. Good luck on FAR, I think you'll smoke it this time!

I never studied the day of the exam and did some light studying the day prior. I found that when I did a bunch of MCQs or looked over material, my confidence would either grow or shrink. I never wanted to have my confidence broken the day before the exam so I only studied for a couple hours. The day of the exam I would just relax and try to keep my confidence up. I found that a 10 MCQ set could completely destroy my confidence, so I stayed away from that possibility on exam day.

Supposed my exam is on a Friday. I would take work off on Thursday and Friday. I'll do a light session on Thursday, 15-30 mcq and briefly go over the notes. This would take at most 2 hours and I'm done for the rest of the day. Hang out at my pool relaxing, read a book or work out. I always set my exam in the morning because I always feel fresh so I eat a light breakfast and bring my notes with to the testing center. I arrive 30 minutes early and go over the notes in my vehicle. All the hours and studying to prepare for a particular section, I trust and believe in myself that I will do well. Reign in that confidence and kick the CPA exam right in the teeth.

I always wrapped up studying by dinner time the night before. Immediately before the exam I would look at ninja notes and do flashcards.
