    NINJA Question –

I just started studying again after taking 2 years off as I lost the motivation to study after trying to attain my CPA for 2.5 years. Previously, I used Backer CPA and then switched to Roger CPA as I found his videos not to be as much of a waste of time. FAR was the only exam I didn’t pass so this time I’m attempting FAR with only the NINJA study tools.
My question is, compared to Becker and Roger, is NINJA just as efficient? I used to study the old way, where I’d watch the vids, read the chapters, then do MCQ and then move to the next section. For some reason, I’m just not feeling like I have everything I need, although that may be just because everyone I know has passed with Becker/Roger but I just can’t reason with the idea of spending the thousands again on programs that didn’t lead to me passing.
I guess I’m kind of looking for those who have taken exams and passed them with the NINJA study method only or did you go rouge and have your own study strategy. Thanks!

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

You definitely can, sure. The book has as much content as the Roger/Becker books. I think a great strategy is getting really familiar with the notes and then doing a bunch of MCQ. Not everything will be in those notes, but each one you get wrong, you can read the answer and then go look that material up in the book for more detail. I am partial to Becker because that's what I've had success with but I don't see any reason why the above strategy wouldn't work well.

In terms of lectures, Farhat's accounting lectures on youtube are just as good as anything you get from Becker or Roger.

@ Jimmy, not sure why the study method didn't work for FAR. IT worked for the other 3 but with FAR i scored a 64, 68, and then a 55. Hence why I took the break…. Maybe I just need a fresh start. I figure, if I passed the other 3 before, I can pass them again so I decided to go with FAR first so the clock doesn't start without me at least attempting it once. Especially with the new SIMS and material in FAR.

If you were doing the few questions that come right after each section in Becker, I think that helps for understanding in the moment but FAR is so much info that by the time you get to the end of the lectures, you're not going to remember a good chunk of the what you learned at the beginning. What will really tell you where you're at is taking 30 question sets of random MCQ covering all sections. Use the analysis tools to show you where you are weakest and then use the lectures or book to get better in those areas. Study the explanations for all of the questions you got wrong. Rinse and repeat. Take it when you are trending 80%.

You can definitely pass with Ninja only. That's what I used for FAR, AUD, and REG. I passed REG and FAR on my first shot. The lectures in FAR are great, but a bit outdated, but most of the material is relevant. I tweaked the Ninja method a bit for my study process, and it worked great.

When I graduated I used Becker, passed all but REG. 5 years later tried again with Becker, passed all by REG. Now 5 years later (again) I used only Ninja for all and passed all on first try. Started with REG since I knew I could pass the others. I used MCQs for REG and AUD. Audio and MCQs for BEC and FAR. It's definitely possible to pass with only Ninja. You just have to find the strategy that works for you.

Ninja for FAR is great in my opinion. I read the book cover-to-cover in conjunction with Ninja notes, flashcards and MCQ's. If you put in the time the study material is more than adequate.
