Has anyone trending score on NINJA MCQs reached around 41%-50% on first time try? I feel like the questions are a lot harder compares to WileyCPAExcel and Roger (tested the trail version) and just wanted to know if it is actually okay to guess a lot on the first time on the new questions. I know once I have answer every question I will be in the adaptive phase but I am so lost when it comes to the problems solving with all the number crunching. Is this normal or is it just me?

Oh and one more thing, should I take notes or should I just keep on drilling the MCQs. The note taking is very time consuming and I feel like it slows me down, but was wondering if anyone has been taking notes on the MCQs and has it helped you guys?

When I first did a couple of sets of 30 MCQs, I was trending between high 70's-low 80's and 85-87 for FAR and AUD respectively, but then again I had already finished the Becker material and had been consistently doing Becker MCQs in which the average was higher than the Ninja average/trending. There are many overlapping MCQs in Becker and Ninja MCQs because these two courses have the AICPA released questions.

But yes – it's normal to have a lower average on Ninja. To answer your second question, I never took my own notes, but you got to ask yourself – how do you learn and retain information best? Personally, I learn better by doing MCQs (i.e. recognizing and understanding why correct answers are correct and incorrect answers are incorrect in given explanations). What works for me may not work for you so you need to figure that out on your own and go from there. Hope this helps.

Big4BeanCounter, thank you for your feedback. I guess I still have yet to find a study method that works for me. I am a very slow learning and I always have to put more effort into my studies so maybe the my notes would help me but I can never find the time to review the materials I've written down because I always utilize most of my time with the NINJA Notes and Audio everyday before I jump into the MCQs and it takes me 5 hours to do 80-90 MCQs while trying understand it. I guess my problem is I got a Mix of both trying to understand it and taking notes cause you know thats the apart of the NINJA Study framework.

My path was different from your's: I used Ninja after using Becker to prepare for FAR. After doing everything in Becker and failing the exam, I moved entirely over to Ninja. I re-wrote the Ninja notes, and then jumped into MCQ. I made notes in my own re-write of Ninja Notes while doing the MCQ, so it took longer to get through my goal of 150 daily MCQ.

Honestly, the first time around was somewhere around 50%, and it took a while to get above that trending score. I found Ninja MCQ fantastic, in part, because they seemed to take a different approach than Becker (can't quite pinpoint how), and because they bounced from topic to topic. That bouncing was perhaps the best thing to prepare for the exam. I never got around to posting my scores on the score comparison, but I was able to pass by re-writing Ninja Notes (with my own additions) weekly, and pushing for 150 MCQ daily (some days were 200, some days were 90). Over that time, I pulled my trending from 50% to 74%, and passed with a 77.

It's different for everyone, but re-writing notes was a huge help for me.

Hmmmmm okay, so it really all comes down to how you study. Thank you pianoCPA for the advice on how you managed to pass after you failed your first attempt. I haven't even taken a test yet but have about 2 weeks left into my exam and I am still trying to get out of the asssessment phase for Ninja MCQ. I know this is kind of off topic but what would you guys suggest in my case? I am kind of worried I might not have enough time to prepare and I have only seen about 3 chapters of Ninja MCQ. That is without going into the adaptive phase yet. Would it be bad to push back the test date?
