NINJA Question –

Hey guys,

I am thinking about getting the Ninja MCQ. “Adaptive learning” is what has my interest because I currently use Wiley CPA and it doesn’t really point out where my weak parts are. The only thing holding me back from buying is that I believe that the MCQ are going to be identical to Wiley’s MCQ (because they get it from the same place) so I am not sure if it would be worth the money.

Could you give me your personal experience with it and how you think it did or didn’t help you?

I have both Wiley and Ninja. Yes there are a few similar questions because both are license by the AICPA, but overall there is a lot of difference.

Yes, I used both wiley and ninja mcq as well. I would definitely recommend getting the ninja mcq to supplement wiley. I liked the ninja answer explanations. When there were similar questions, I used the explanations as reinforcement. Ninja audio helped me too.

Let's say FAR has 30 hours of video in your chosen program (Becker, etc). If you supplement it with Ninja, you get about 1600 questions for FAR. If you take 2 minutes each, that's an additional 53 hours of rock solid material.

The question for you is:

– Does your MCQ program under consideration have adaptive learning?
– Does your MCQ track your progress with both reports and visual representations?
– Can you visibly see the “hockey stick” in your learning progress?
– Are the explanations of the MCQ of very high quality?
– Can you say at any time during your course of study that you know the point when you're turning the corner and starting to be really ready for the exam?

All of the above are features which Ninja has delivered for me. I defy any other system to do so. They are out there, but with competitive options that Ninja has – pretty much can't be beat.

I'll say it from the rooftops because I would not have passed FAR with Becker alone (my 2nd exam).

I have both Wiley and Ninja, and let me tell you, Ninja is so much better. I found Wiley's test bank to be very odd…I don't know how else to explain it. Further, the explanations in Wiley do not help at all. So if you get a question wrong, you don't really get much reference as to why it is wrong or why the correct answer is right. In Ninja, you get definitions related to each MCQ as well as references to short paragraphs surrounding that topic. This is extremely helpful for me since I tend to leave a lot of the learning up to Ninja MCQs during my final review.

For reference, I studied using Wiley CPAexcel and Wiley Test Bank as my final review source for my first FAR attempt. I got a 67. I purchased Ninja MCQ, worked them until I was trending 85 and sat again. I got an 82.

For AUD, I used Wiley CPA excel and didn't have time for a final review. I got a 68. I used Ninja for my retake, waited until I was trending 85, and sat. I got a 79.

I think the difference between my FAR and AUD scores bring up a good point. I used Wiley test bank for my final review and got a 67 yet I didn't do a final review for AUD and got a 68, and I've never taken an auditing course in my entire life!

So yes, I would 100% recommend Ninja. I don't waste my time with Wiley anymore.

The MCQ were def helpful to me. All the passes I have gotten so far I would have to credit to Ninja MCQ and SIMS. Becker just couldn't cut it alone. Highly recommend this product, though I know the products have changed now including audio/notes which I haven't used before.

Second attempt REG with Becker + Ninja MCQ, 86.

What's the best way to use the NINJA MCQ? I was thinking about going section by section until I get through all of the questions and then just keep hitting the adaptive learning until I get ~85% trending.

Yes, the Ninja MCQs were very helpful. I used Ninja for my 2-3 week review period and CPAExcel for my initial learning as I was reading the text. I did not use the adaptive learning part of Ninja. I reviewed by each topic. So for example I would do 50 questions on bonds one day and 50 questions on leases another day. I believe you learn more by repetition. Flitting back and forth between different topics is less helpful.

I dabbled a little bit with the Wiley Test Bank (came along for free with CPAExcel) but didn't really haven enough time to do both the Test Bank and Ninja MCQs.

Yes, Ninja MCQ were extremely helpful. I supplemented with Ninja and passed all 4 on my first attempt. I spent the last 2 weeks before each section doing only Ninja MCQ and some light note reading.

I don't know if I would feel prepared without Ninja MCQ-that's my #1 review tool. I usually go section by section, new questions only. Then do missed last time seen. Then do a set of random MCQs….
