NINJA Framework — where’s the book/reading?

    NINJA Question –

So I just bought all the materials for the NINJA framework to accompany my Wiley study guides & Wiley Test Bank (I bought the NINJA audio, NINJA Blitz videos, NINJA notes, and NINJA flashcards)….

I plan on doing the ELL study plan to take all 4 parts within the next 6 months. I just started as a Staff Accountant at a CPA firm in October 2013 & they want us to have our CPA license within 2 years — I know I can’t study during busy season, so I’m going to try to do as much as I can now before my second busy season comes around.

I’m confident if I can discipline myself appropriately to study, that I will do well (I did well all through school, including high school & college, without studying at all — sometimes not even opening the book out of it’s plastic within a semester).

    But here’s my question:

Within the NINJA set up, where do I read?

I see N is Videos, I is notes (obviously from the videos, but also from reading maybe?), N is MCQs, J is rewriting the notes from I, and A is to review all your notes again & MCQs again & flashcards

So really, where do I read?! and do I read for content (in-depth reading) or just for concepts (skimming & paying attention to diagrams, bolded phrases, etc)?

This is a first (and hopefully final) attempt for me, so help is appreciated!

I’m testing FAR in late August (22-30), AUD in mid October, REG in late November (as close to Thanksgiving as possible), and BEC 1/2. I just got my NTS today, so I have to test for all 4 parts on or before 1/7.

    Thanks ahead of time!

The videos generally go through the books, and notetaking will be along with the videos and with reading. At least, that's how I do it. It's REALLY individual, though, and you need to figure out how YOU learn best. What works for me or the next person won't necessarily work for you.

Good luck – sounds like a grueling study schedule, but you can do this!

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

Oh, wait, did you mean the Blitz videos are all you have? No Yaeger/Roger/Becker or anything? You'll want to read through the book. NINJA is great but it's NOT a replacement for the book. I would absolutely recommend you go through the book and take notes.

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

If you are using a CPA program without video, I would use the Ninja Notes as an overview for concepts and then fill in the supporting details with the Wiley Study guides for content.

I went through all of the Wiley Modules and have about 60-70 pages of notes between the book and Ninja notes combined.

Using Ninja MCQ, NINJA Notes, Audio, Flashcards and BLITZ, and 2014 Wiley Text

    FAR - (61,63)
    AUD - (68)

    Keep Calm and RTMFQ

The NINJA Framework is due for a makeover with an International flavor (an ode to IFRS)

Nail the Videos is now Nail the Concepts (via video or book)

I learn best by hearing and/or seeing it done (similar to traditional classes). I can read, obviously… but if there's an alternative to help absorb the information more quickly, I'd rather do that alternative… I am a bit of a slower reader (even if it's a book I choose to read out of interest).

I'll start with the Blitz videos & then review the NINJA notes, then fill in blanks from the Wiley Books. If I sat down to just read the Wiley books, I would spend my entire study time only reading & not practicing MCQs or flashcards!

    Thanks for all your help!
