Is NINJA alone effective with REG? I used it for AUD and it worked well but just started reading the Ninja book and I’m getting alot of the questions wrong. I usually ready a section of the book then go into the questions to answer that specific question. That worked great with AUD but REG isn’t going too well

REG was the only section I never failed (passed twice due to lost credit) and I only used Ninja both times. You'll get there, just keep plugging along.

    AUD - 56 - 68 - 61 - 9/8/16
    REG - 75
    FAR - 7/15/16
    BEC - TBD

Thank Jennifer. What strategy did you use? Read the book then answer questions or did you watch videos first?

Getting questions wrong during the NI(N)JA phase is normal and part of the learning process. The questions are part of learning the concepts.

If you're scoring low during the NINJ(A) phase, then that's more cause for concern.

    @Jeff

Is reading the book first the best way to go? I read a topic then go into the MCQ and answer 5 questions in the section. Would you recommend I continue this way?

Just started REG also. AUD & BEC seem fun relative to this!

The first round, I read the book/took notes and then answered questions on that topic. I would listen to the audio for the sections I was reading and then would slowly build that up as I moved to new sections.

Second round, I just hammered MCQs. Once I was out of the review stage, I could clearly see where weak areas were. I'd go back and read up on those areas in the book, then hammer more questions.

Buuuuut, I have to say that I completely disagree that AUD was more fun. AUD took me forever to pass, but I had no problems with REG.

    AUD - 56 - 68 - 61 - 9/8/16
    REG - 75
    FAR - 7/15/16
    BEC - TBD

I used both Ninja and Wiley CPAExcel and here is the comparison

AUD – Ninja was excellent and better than CPAexcel, and you can pass only with Ninja.
BEC – Ninja good in most sections except IT where CPAexcel is better. Studying both should have you covered
FAR – I would say Ninja was not up to the mark here and there were lot of basic concepts in CPAexcel which was not found in Ninja.
REG – For the first time I used only Ninja and completely skipped CPAexcel. I have low hopes of passing on March 20. But part of it I have to blame on me as I was not fully prepared, but even if I was fully prepared, there were several concepts missed.

Overall I feel if you study only Ninja, and are fully prepared, you should get 75-80 scores around 85-90% of the times.

@Another72 I agree with Jeff's response. Learn from the question explanations; use it as a learning tool, and don't get too hung up on how many questions you're getting right (at least in the beginning). I supplemented other materials with Ninja, but I do think Ninja is sufficient for your success, especially if you pull out all the stops and use all the products offered.

    Best of luck!

    Another poster made this point:

    – questions you get wrong now, are the questions you will get right on the exam
    (I will add…)
    – questions you get right, are the questions you will absolutely get right on the exam (provided you have the “why” understanding)

My point is keep doing questions, even if you're getting them wrong, those are opportunities for you to actually expand your knowledge of that material. Since Ninja MCQ in total trend in the thousands(?), there is so much potential for you to absorb as much information as you can for this exam that one or five or ten wrong answers shouldn't derail you.

Use all the time you have available to keep going hard, questions questions questions!!! The more you see, the more you'll learn (the ones you get wrong and see over again), and the more material you'll be exposed to (meaning less surprises come exam day).

I was trending barely at 69% for ninja BEC and was coming up for my 3rd stab at BEC, ended up with a 77 to finally be done. That 69% was the last thing on my mind walking into the exam center, what fueled my confidence was ALL the work and material that I learned on the way.

Hope this helps, see you on the other side.
