    NINJA Question –

In the throes of busy season, but still hopeful that I can study. Here’s the situation er’body. I’m waiting for my Tax retake score on March 21st. I took Audit January 20th, but failed with a 72. I plan on retaking Audit in May. Should I study for audit for the next week or so, or wait until I get my reg score to see if I passed that? Thanks for your help guys and gals!

I my opinion, you should focus on the exam that's scheduled. Commit to preparing for that, write out (or plan and print out) your study plan and stick to it. If you passed REG, plan for FAR and follow through as soon as you complete your AUD exam. You have to wait until August for that score, so make best use of your time while waiting and get another test under your belt! If you have to retake REG, go with your knowledge of yourself – will you be better off refreshing REG fairly soon, or will you be able to dredge that knowledge back up after taking FAR? Also know that FAR is (again my opinion) a monster. There is a HUGE amount of material to cover and retain, and you don't want to confuse the reporting rules with the tax rules. Knowing my brain, I would get REG done first.

I would stick with REG since it's still fresh in your mind. If you are not confident whether or not you passed then don't put the study material down, review tax forms, do some MCQs to keep it all fresh in your mind.

I personally do not think it is efficient to bounce back and force between sections.

    Good luck!!
