    NINJA Question –

Hey Everyone – very new to another71 (as in bought the materials this week). I’ve been at a Big4 for three years now doing some audit and have recently switched to internal finance – which has brought much better hours and I finally feel like I have time to give the exam another shot.

I’m planning to take FAR (again – took in October 2012 – 69%) hopefully around April 4. I watched Jeff’s video about how to approach his study materials, but do not recall how long he suggested to take to read it.

Anyone have any suggestions? I don’t want to rush through it, but at the same time don’t want to spend forever reading before I get to the MCQ.

    FAR: 69 (10/2012), 70 (4/2015), July 2015
    BEC: May 2015
    REG: August 2015
    AUD: November 2015

For all my exams I spent the time it took to read each chapter once “thoroughly”. Basically, if I found myself just coasting along and not actively engaging I would retread what I read. After a chapter I would do just enough m/c's to reinforce the concepts and then move on. In ninja book the questions are throughout so that's built in the book. In my opinion there's no sense beading around the bush after your first go around so then dive right in.

So….actively engage once through then use as reference from then on

    Audit(11/5/13) - 89
    Reg(5/16/14) - 86
    FAR(7/18/14) - 82
    BEC(11/14) - 85

Thanks, that is exactly what I've been trying to do – if I don't understand it or know I wasn't paying close enough attention I make myself reread it. Wasn't sure if there was a set time frame based on the ninja review for how long to spend reading the book…I think I'll still be able to finish by the time Jeff suggested in order to do the remaining review.

Best of luck Susan! I always thought the hardest part of the cpa exam was the life obstacles that kept me from studying. I know life gets in the way so try to maximize your studies by going for it as much as you can. The week before my BEC exam I woke up at 5 each morning to study 2 hours before work. It paid off cause the weekend before my test my son got very sick and I spent all Saturday at ER and all Sunday recuperating and taking care of my son. He got better and I passed. There are more important things than the cpa exam, but passing it did feel great!
