    NINJA Question –

    Hello all,

I’m graduating in Dec and I’m kind of nervous about the CPA test already, currently I live in Texas and planning to relocate to Washington State in a 6 months or a year. What do you guys recommend, should I apply in Seattle to sit for the CPA or get it done over here and transfer the credit (if I pass)? How long does it usually take to finish all parts on average?

Btw I have already sent my letter of intent to the Texas board of accountancy can that application be transferred as well, or I need to apply at the Washington state office?

    Thanks in advance!

If it is set in stone that you are going to move to Washington, I'd just apply with them. You don't need to be a resident there, and if you meet Texas' requirements then you almost certainly would meet Washington's. I've looked at both states as it is possible that I may relocate to either of them.

Yasen – It sounds as if you got the process started in Texas already by sending the letter of intent. I would finish up and Texas and then transfer your scores to Washington. It is only $25 to have your scores transferred so it is not a big deal if you need to transfer them once you have passed.

As for average time to pass all parts it really varies person to person. I was able to finish in just over 9 months but passed all parts on the first try. It all depends on how much time you will have to dedicate to studying and how committed you are to passing.
