    NINJA Question –

Wondering how y’all feel about flashcards. I have been re-writing Becker flashcards as part of my REG review. It is very time consuming though and I’m not sure if maybe I’m better off just looking at them on my cellphone through the app or just doing something else entirely. Definitely don’t want to sink HOURS into this if it’s not really going to help much…..advice welcome!

I created my own flashcards for BEC and AUD because the amount of material (6 chapters each) isn't as large as FAR and REG. However, for the latter 2, I keep notebooks and jot down notes and charts to help me memorize concepts.

Have you taken REG yet @Club300? Good luck to you!

I started off creating my own, but then discovered that it was a waste of time for me since I, during most of my study time, had the space and the quiet to actually look at the book instead. So it just depends on how much you think you'll get out of all that typing/writing on the back end. If you do type your own, fyi, Avery makes card labels that are sturdy enough. You can buy the labels at an office supply store. You just have to use a printer that prints on the back and front.

Thanks for the input @Star86! I agree….it feels like a time sink. I think writing notes/fact nuggets (especially) in the weak areas is super helpful, but as far as re-writing flashcards, I've nixed that idea. 🙂

ninja flashcards helped me so much for reg & bec.

i think it's really helpful for memorizing boring parts of reg (like Blaw and ethics).

i didn't rewrite them or anything. i just went through them on my ipad

Flashcards are good for memorization things like formulas and definitions, but I never rewrote them. I had someone quiz me on them whenever I was burnt out on MCQ, but MCQ was my main source of study.

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

I like the ninja flashcards so far. I just don't really love brainscape (the app to use them). It doesn't allow me to just go through the flashcards once. It keeps skipping around. Minor issues…haha…I am grateful for them and hope they will give me an edge in the next exam!

I spent a good $$ on flashcards and concluded that they were a great waste of my time and money.
