NINJA Question –

Hi guys!

So I retake FAR on 2/27 and so far I’ve been using NINJA study materials (Becker just did NOT work for me..).

I’ve been basically pounding out MCQs like a psycho.. I’ve been breaking them down into smaller sections by doing each set of MCQ on a topic by themselves to make sure I understand that topic before I move on. I usually keep working that section until I get all of the questions right… So right now my average trending score is 90.4% and I’ve spent 76 hours doing MCQs.

From what I’ve read on this forum from others who have used NINJA MCQs to study, a trending score of 90.4% is pretty good. But I’m wondering if the way I’ve been working questions (doing them over & over until I get them right) may be skewing my trending score.

I’m just about through all of the MCQs. So my question is this: Should I do a reset on my stats for my final review period and just do totally random MCQs instead of choosing a specific topic/section? I’m thinking if I do this, I will be able to get a better idea of just how well I know the material.

Anyone have any advice or experienced something similar??

I would say so because while with some of them you may have learned something, part of the reason you'll get it right will be due to memory. The ones you get wrong I would write intense notes on and keep moving.

I've been taking notes on questions that I either got wrong, or just right purely from guessing. So I guess I'll stop going back and reworking questions right after I miss them.. In hindsight… that sounds kind of dumb looking back.. lol

Whatever you do – make sure you study under the same conditions as your exam.

If you're going to be hopped up on Creatine with Muscle-Blast 8,000 and an I.V. of Kale puree, make sure you do the same when you study. 🙂

I used Ninja Far, and got 82. The first time I took, I used Gleim and got 64.
My Ninja mcq score wasn't high, mid 70's, but I took notes for the questions that I missed and go back to the book read over and over again. I also took my own notes. Don't just mesmerize answers, you need to know why.

I used the Becker course only because it has a payment plan but I a not staying focused and when I sat for AUD (43); (47). It is not a good feeling. I have until June 2016 with Becker but will need to invest with someone who does not expires. I have four more years before I retire from the City of Jacksonville and I need the CPA credential when I leave. So wen I get home I'm tired so I have reversed my study time to early morning.

Hi networker – just curious, but what part of Jacksonville are you in? I'm also in Jacksonville, FL as well. Good to see other north Floridians!

I think that percentage is great, but it may be because you've become too familiar with the questions. That's a good idea to to do MCQ's in chunks by topic, but I think as you move closer to the exam you need to broaden your scope to multiple topics within the same MCQ set. That way, you know what topics you are remembering cummulatively.

Yes, your trending score is skewed upward. I would retake “Missed Last Time” questions daily or every other day and some of the questions I may have answered correctly purely because I had remembered the correct answer choice, which also skewed my trending score up. So I would wait longer periods until I hit those particular banks.
I would also take special note of the questions I missed on the second try, because that meant I could not even remember the correct answer. Funny how that works.

Thanks for the post. I live on the westside off of Lanes Avenue. What side of town do you live on? What course did you use? I'm thinking about supplementing with the Ninja audio and maybe the MCQ. You only have 3 months to prepare and it expires. I really need to get passed FAR and AUD while my course is still active. Then for the last 2 parts due to the cost I will purchase them individually.
