    NINJA Question –

    I’m taking FAR on Monday and decided to procrastinate and estimate my score instead of actually pounding MCQs. I went through the “NINJA MCQ vs. Exam score” thread and gathered a bit of data. Not enough to make a super reliable sample, but enough of one to get the job done for now. I ran the regression on 40 samples as: Actual Score = Total Attempts + Avg. Score + Avg. Trending Score. The Multiple R came out at .4911, the R square at .2412, Adjusted R Square at 1.78 and Standard Error at 4.977. Anyway, here are the coefficients if you’d like to throw your results in.

    Intercept: 50.75930114

    Total Attempts .000286527

    Avg. Score: .430841597

    Avg. Trending Score: .00069581

    Note: This is a poor sample, and was mostly gathered from happy posters. Only 15% of the sample had failing scores.

    I’m sure Jeff has run real data on this but it was just something I thought would be interesting to try. I’m currently aiming for Projected – Std. Error = 75 in my NINJA MCQ efforts. It was super interesting that the base score should be ~51, and that average score carries the most weight. Let me know if you have any questions!

    BEC - 83 7/25
    REG - 76 5/2/15
    AUD - Hopefully before MY Audit...7/5?
    FAR - 83 5/2/16

    I have no idea what I just read, but will say that there can be a large gap between your scores using Ninja compared to your actual score. For FAR, I was averaging 58 and trending 67 and managed to pass with a 75. From browsing through that thread it seems like FAR and BEC have the largest differences in scores while AUD and REG generally are closer to what your scores will be.

    FAR: 75 Roger & Ninja (notes/flashcards/audio/MCQ)
    AUD: 73, 81
    BEC: 71, retake 8/29

    Thanks for giving me hope, @RE2PECT. I'm taking FAR tomorrow too…average is 73 and trending 80. Not feeling too great about things but fingers crossed that I can still somehow pull it off. Good luck to you @Tuffy11111 tomorrow…and I know there are at least a handful of others on this board taking FAR tomorrow…sending positive thoughts to all of you and hoping we can put this behind us!!

    Sounds like you should have chosen to become an actuary instead of an accountant OP

    @RE2PECT Ha. Well funny enough, based on those numbers you provided you got exactly the score you were projected to get from the regression.

    @daredevils33 I was very seriously considering it right up until I got a Big 4 job. I'm also already frustrated with studying for our 4 exams. They have a 10+ year process to be fully certified.

    I'm only planning on doing 50 or so more NINJA MCQs and currently only projecting a 78. Here's hoping it decides to actually be accurate for me tomorrow haha. Thank you everyone for the well wishes, and good luck to you all tomorrow as well.

    Hate to bump an old thread, but this estimated my score within the standard error. So hopefully someone waiting on their score will use it. Here's what I finished with:

    Y = (#Num Attempts).000287 + (Avg Score).430842 + (Trending Score).000696 + 50.7593

    78 = (1069 x .000287) + (63 x .430842) + (62 x .000696)

    My formula estimated that I would get a 78 +/- 5 and I ended up getting an 83. Right within the estimated score + standard error.

    BEC - 83 7/25
    REG - 76 5/2/15
    AUD - Hopefully before MY Audit...7/5?
    FAR - 83 5/2/16

    @Tuffy11111 – Your formula estimated an 83 for me. I got an 82. 🙂

    According to this I should have got an 83 on AUD instead of a 73.

    (2548 x .000287) + (74 x .430842) + (98 x .000696) + 50.7593

    If this is accurate I must have really bombed the sims.

    Thanks, Excel14! It's definitely a great feeling…you'll get to experience it soon enough! I know you've been struggling with the FAR material, but just keep at it and I promise more of it will come together eventually. Best of luck!
